" Buffalo is lucky to have him at this point in his career"
Agreed. Idk why he gets so much hate. He's pretty athletic, and very smooth. He's a good hockey player.
Regarding Dahlin playing the left side, I thought that as well, but the Sabres are playing a Guhle-Dahlin pair at the prospect tournament. Not sure if that will hold for the regular season, but it's interesting to note that the first time he's on the ice in the blue and gold, he'll be playing the right side |

maybe they just want to see both playing top-pairing minutes? |

True, I didn't think of that. It certainly helps the left-side depth if that's where he ends up |

Why was the Samson blog taken down so soon?
Can we just leave it up on the main page for a few more days? He, at least, deserves that. |

He gets a lot of hate because there's nothing shiny there. Does his job, doesn't take many penalties, and stay out of the limelight. |

sure does...we could eventually see a left/right bottom pairing of McCabe-bogo...if that's how the depth chart pans out, it's a pretty good situation |

Scandella is missed in MN. Good guy on and off the ice. He can be decent on the pp when given the opportunity, good hard slapshot. He was the Wild's best dman during the playoffs his last year here. Hope he has a good career in Buffalo |

I've always supported him. He is what he is though. a middle pair D with average speed. I think he's a quality character on and off the ice and is well worth his contract. |

Good write up on Scandella. I am a fan of his as well. Low profile guy that gets the job done. I agree with Risto and Scandella being the #1 pairing to start the season.
Now, if Marco can get us some more depth on the right-hand side or another solid LW, I would be OK with trading him out. Left-handed D-man is arguably our deepest position to trade from. |

Scandella
Mccabe
Guhle

I would say currently Scandella is the only reasonable candidate for top pairing minutes. It all depends on Dahlin's preferred side of course, and how Housley views that as well

Thank God.
With Pommer, Moulson and Beau off the books, we should be able to keep Skinner here. Then Sobotka, Bogo and Scandella the next year (retaining Sheary hopefully).
I like what Botts is doing with the cap. Could be tight this year, but moving forward we're sitting pretty even with raises to Skinner, Dahlin, Mitts and Reinhart on the way. |
