Very cool interview. Made me feel a little more optimistic. Hopefully the team plays defense and we will see improvement in the standings. |

B.D. not sure what you did, I don't follow that often, but can you apologize or something? I miss reading all of the opinions of the other readers. This page used to fill up in a few hours. 3 days later and there are only 3 posts? - Schnip102

Im actually excited for this season. We are the Islanders - We always will be viewed as underdog but that what we want.
I have full faith we have more still that people give us credit for and that Coaching/GM was where we lacked
Wish Tavares the best to getting his automatic 100 point season and stanley cup.
For those players that have won a cup its not about how you look at paper.
Teams win cups, not individual players. |

Luca Sbisa joins Isles PTO invite,if he makes the team 6th or 7th dman.....not a bad depth guy. My guess on pairings opening night..........
Boychuck-Leddy
Pulock-Hickey
Pelech- Toews

Not to long ago sbisa was a very desired dman. Worth a shot. I love how Lou makes it competitive to make team. Remember the years with snow that you knew the starting lineup before camp? Not anymore
I’m really curious if kovar makes the team. |

I think Kovar and Nelson will battle it out for the #2 center spot unless a trade is made before season starts.

i wouldnt count out Fillipula either as #2 center. He likely 3rd line center.
here is crazy question - where does Josh Ho Sang fit in? there is no way he beats out any Eberle or Bailey. And im guess is Komarov and Kuhnhackl on 3rd line along with Ladd.
Someone sitting or getting traded. Maybe this is the fire under Nelson's @ss to make him play.
Like i said my 3 surprise call outs this year will be
1) Anthony Beauvillier will score 30
2) Nelson will have monster year with Tavares gone and fact that its his contract year
3) Josh Bailey will surprise everyone again. Maybe he doesnt get his points he did last year but he will be very important player in lineup. |

Don't forget about Seidenberg. He's participating in informal skates. Which means a contract can't be far behind. |

1) Not seeing it. (hope you're right though). Maybe low-mid 20's
2) Not seeing it. (hope you're right though). Maybe a contract year and a coach that hopefully doesn't allow him to just drift around defensively will help.
3) Not seeing it. (hope you're right though). How will he be an important player if he doesn't get his points? If he doesn't get points, then he's back to being, well, Bailey. Like Nelson, hopefully a new coaching staff will not allow him to just drift.
I'm really hopeful that this new coaching staff will bring about a change in defensive play and locker room culture. I've said it for years now. What would this team do with a real coaching staff? Guess we're going to find out real soon.
Oh, and Sparti, to your point #2, I said before last year that Nelson needs to go to the net for rebounds & tips. He also needed to go to the high slot to best use his wrist shot. he started the season doing both and was racking up the points. Then he went back to playing the half wall and below the goal line and stopped putting up points. If they utilize him like I think they should, then yes, he definitely could have a monster year. |
