Likely the best team in the East, and with most core players inked long term. Even Dorian could gm this team to a cup final in the next few years. Just tell him to stay off the phone.

BriseBois deserves much more credit than he is currently getting. He is responsible for several of the gems that have come through Syracuse. There is no doubt in my mind that this team wouldn't be where it currently is without BriseBois.

You got a point, Chiarelli is far superior

Serious question, would you rather have a great gm that builds a perennial contender that never actually wins, or a horrible gm that ruins a perennial contender but managed to win a cup along the way

Well of course you take the damn cup.

But that has nothing to do with this conversation. The previous management in Boston had as much to do with that cup win as Chia did.

Yzerman has left an indelible mark on this franchise - he upped the bar for work ethic, character, talent, development, scouting, drafting, trainers, etc. The Lightning were not a first class franchise when Yzerman and Vinik took over. Now Tampa is a franchise that free agents want to play for and players will waive their no trade clauses to facilitate a move here. A big part of that improvement is directly attributable to Yzerman.

How about that Karlsson trade? Peanuts and magic beans for him. The Lightning could have made a better offer, but they didn't - is it because Karlsson intends to end up here all along? - I can at least hold out hope in this regard, until he signs that 8-yr contract to stay in San Jose....or....

Do we know this? My bet is that TB *did* make a better offer, but that Ottawa was set on moving him to the West. The terms on the conditional picks make that pretty clear, IMO.

No, I guess we don't. I hope the Bolts made a better offer than San Jose's. I am thinking the return should have been better, given that Bobby Ryan's contract was not part of the deal. If I am a San Jose fan, I am liking my GM about right now.

So what's the word on Dotchkin?
Did he show up to camp with a beer gut? Is that why they cut ties?

Nothing official as far as I know. He got fined last preseason as well, so would not be chocked if he just parties to much in the summer. Maybe he was hungover

idk...

must be pretty bad as no other team took a chance on him with a measly entry level contract with one year remaining.

Then Dorion didn't learn anything from Hoffman bounce trade.

I think it proves he did learn something from the Hoffman trade, as misguided as it might have been. He put conditions on the picks such that the Sharks won't flip him to a team in the East.

Morgan Geekie - Andrew Poturalski - Greg McKegg

Haydn Fleury - Trevor van Riemsdyk
Jake Bean - Roland McKeown
Michal Cajkovsky - Josh Wesley

Petr Mrazek
Alex Nedeljkovic

Should be a bloodbath because Tampa is dressing Stamkos, Kucherov, Hedman, McDonagh, Point, Stralman, Johnson....

Going thru the motions for the vets, not playing just skating and getting game feel. What I expected to be honest. Lets see what the Lightning's kids due against most of the regulars for Carolina.
