They wanted to stop at 9, to keep the score 2-9, for Pominville day!
Like what I see (when they put the effort in) just need to get more consistent on effort. |

I suspect the sabres will have a lot of hopeful eyes on them following the Peterman 6.0 performance

From the Athletic - Review of the 2016 NHL draft
Buffalo Sabres
Grade: C-plus
2016 grade: B-plus
There is still time for the Sabres to get value from this draft class, but it’s hard to look at it as anything other than disappointing given they had nine picks, including a top 10 pick and two third-round picks, and it’s quite questionable whether they’ll get above-average returns relative to the league. Alexander Nylander remains a very good prospect, but he’s still in the AHL and is just now showing signs of life at the pro level. Rasmus Asplund is a solid center prospect but nothing amazing. Cliff Pu (now with Carolina) is also just an OK center prospect. Defender Casey Fitzgerald has been a fine college player but scouts wonder if he can be a good pro. Vojtej Budik, Brandon Hagel and Austin Osmanski were not offered contracts; Vasili Glotov was given an AHL deal; and while the team retains the rights to Brett Murray and Philip Nyberg, it’s hard to see them become much of anything.
Translates into - Murray got a raw deal |

Still, frustratingly, too early to grade. If Nylander and Asplund play for the Sabres for 5+ years, it's a pretty good draft. I think Pu should at least become an NHLer
I don't miss Murray, but his drafting was the least of his problems
Their decision to send Nylander to the AHL was worse than the pick itself |

With the exception of Olofsson possibly being a huge steal, what did he do well?
I am a big Guhle fan, but it’s less of a sure thing it seemed a year ago that he becomes a good top 4 in the NHL, we have no idea on Nylander. Reinhart was a dud for #2 overall. At least he’s an NHL’er.
The second round of 2014 was a disaster. He had a gold mine in picks and it turned into a “meh” 3 drafts |

So great to actually see this team competitive...
Love that they didn't let up on the Sens (who were playing the demoralized way you see before someone gets fired or sent to binghamton...oh wait was waiving Condon the wrong play?).
Can they go to MSG and jump on the sorta mediocre Rangers tonight? |

I meant it more as "damning with faint praise"
His trades and FA signings were mostly bad. His drafting was mediocre |

I just don't see this at all. Stuffing the roster with rookies has been tried throughout the NHL unsuccessfully more often than not. Just because a player has an NHL ceiling of say top 6 or whatever doesn't mean they'll just grow into that role if you bring them up quicker. They tend to get torched and demoralized.
If anything there is a case to be made for moving Mittlestat to Rochester for like 20-30 games.
J Botts strong suit is his understanding of player development which means, I think, Be Smart...Be Patient. |

No, I mean the year Nylander was drafted. He should have gone to juniors or to Sweden. He was the youngest player in the AHL |

Interesting Bills game today...
-Can the Bills outscore the Sabres?
-Does Peterman put up more points for the Bills or for the Bears?
-Will Pryor quit the team by end of Q1, just to set a franchise record?
-Will Barkley get into the game by Q3
Intrique abounds |

Great win yesterday. I was at the game. The Sabres were just flying (obviously). The salute to Pommer was outstanding and the crowd was really into the game. The only negative was the $11.50 per tall boy can of Yuengling Lager. |

God help me, I'm quoting Garth, but this seems like good news:
Skinner loves him some home cooking. Buffalo is a par three away from his hometown of Toronto. His parents, siblings and friends love attending his Sabres games. Skinner told me he loves performing in front of his family and friends. It reminds him of his junior hockey days playing for the Kitchener Rangers.
"Its definitely cool. Its something that I have not experienced since junior (hockey). I'm sure they like it too. Its the ideal situation for me."
