Sabers gunna crash?

Buffalo is the story of the season so far after earning 10 straight wins, though that streak was snapped on Thursday in a loss to the Lightning, which bumped the Sabres from top spot in the league.

Last year I wrote about 10-plus game win streaks and what it takes to achieve them and unsurprisingly the big sticking point was getting the bounces and the Sabres sure got theirs during their streak. Not in the usual sense as the team’s shooting and save percentages weren’t abnormally high, but in the sense that nine of the wins were by one-goal with seven of the wins needing extra time. Flip a coin 10 times an infinite amount of times and you’re bound to hit heads 10 times in a row at some point.

That’s the Sabres win streak in a nutshell where they had a total goal difference of plus-nine, or 0.9 per game, the lowest total since 2007-08 by a hefty margin (the previous low was 1.27 by Chicago in 2012-13) making the Sabres 10-game win streak the least impressive one during that timeframe. The team’s 5-on-5 Corsi of 47.2 percent and scoring chance rate of 44.4 percent also rates as the lowest.

I’m deeply skeptical of Buffalo’s actual ability and talent level despite the team’s current standing, but it’s very difficult to win 10 straight and miss the playoffs. The Sabres currently sit at 70 percent per my model, meaning they’re relatively safe, albeit rather vulnerable for a team that’s already banked 36 points in 26 games. For the fanbase’s sake, I do hope they make it. They’ve suffered enough over the last decade.

I have tons of respect for the guy, he just never stops. He's 5'9" and 175lbs...and works his butt off none stop, never takes a night off. He gets hit hard every night...he gets up, smiles and goes right back at it....every time!

Nothing from the Flyers worth a trade for Nylander.....I'd say and heard through hear say though Nylander is signed and sealed just needs to be delivered
