First
I just skimmed over it because its a lot to read but if you are comparing Driere to Skinner its two different owners and that screw up will forever haunt us.
If you are saying that signing Skinner and winning fixes the past why yes it does.
Winning cures everything |

"He was an ultimate pro, does everything right, every day works hard, so obviously it’s been a bit shocking," said goalie Carter Hutton, who also played with Berglund in St. Louis. "There’s a lot of stuff where we don’t even know about, I’m sure, so you hope for the best in all cases."
I'm still left wondering what the hell happened. The dude just imploded. |

Buffalo is expected to terminate its contract with Patrik Berglund.
Berglund is in the first season of a five-year, $19.25 million contract. He wasn't able to do much with the Sabres, recording just two goals and four points in 23 games this season. However, his role with the team was also limited. On Saturday, it was announced that he was suspended indefinitely for failing to report to the team, which set in motion a chain of events that led to his contract being on the verge of termination. Unless the situation changes, the Berglund's cap hit can be taken completely off the books.

Someone said it in the last post and I just wanted to bring it over....
But it sure sounds like a new and nice struggle to have as Sabres fans of how much can/should we pay for our achieving or sometimes overachieving players in our system as opposed to "how would we have to pay that guy to come to Buffalo" talk.
Breath of fresh air.
Toronto has the same great problem aside from JT. How they fit in Marner, Auston, Gardiner, and Kapanen next year will be interesting. |

Pach suggests that Skinner will be the first significant UFA signing in over 10-years. What about Leino, Moulson and Okposo?

Rosters for skills challenge announced. hutton's team is (frank)in stacked.
On Hutton’s team: Jeff Skinner, Sam Reinhart, Rasmus Dahlin and Lawrence Pilut. That’s a lot of talent for one team and it’s sure to be entertaining. Kyle Okposo, Johan Larsson, Zemgus Girgensons, Tage Thompson and Scott Wilson round out the forwards. Zach Bogosian and Nathan Beaulieu are the other defenders.
On the opposite side: still plenty of talent. Ullmark’s team will feature captain Jack Eichel, offensive powerhouse Conor Sheary, and defensive talents in Brendan Guhle and Rasmus Ristolainen. Vladimir Sobotka, Jason Pominville, Evan Rodrigues and Remi Elie are also anticipated to be on Ullmark’s team. The defense will be rounded out with Marco Scandella, Casey Nelson and Matt Hunwick. |

Skinner is worth 50-75% more than they made, I think MP is right. They pale in comparison. |

"But things are different this year as it looks like the Sabres will have an opportunity to re-sign that type of player in Jeff Skinner and finally purge themselves of the past."
That's what I thought he was referring to.
I would agree that signing Skinner would end the "drought" so to speak, whereas signing Okposo, or particularly Moulson/Leino, would not. |
