I remember going to Duck games in the late sixties/ early seventies. I was there for probably the most talked about game in Ducks history against the New Haven Blades, where we waited for the Ducks to arrive from Johnstown, game started around 1130pm(if my memory serves me correctly) and immediately upon the dropping of the puck what seemed like an hour long Donny-brook started. I remember guys like Don Perry, John Brophy and Blake Ball to name a few. It was definitely “Slap Shot” hockey. It was sad when the league disbanded around the time of the islanders arrival on Long Island and sadder yet when the Commack Arena was torn down for a shopping center. R.I.P. Don.
