The first name out of Friedman’s mouth on the 31 thoughts pod today talking about Tampa was Ristolainen
Write that off if you want but this time last year Friedman was all but saying ROR was moving
And here I was told the lightning was bs |

Take on 3 contracts from Tampa just to trade Risto there, not a chance in hell Botterill does that. |

Lehner was subjected to a distraught and disorganized defense his entire time in Buffalo under two coaches who's systems ended up leaving their goalies hung out to dry. Under Bylsma it was a system where the stretch-pass was king but he didn't have the players to properly execute it on a nightly basis. As breakdowns occurred chaos ensued and nobody knew what anyone else was doing. Under Housley, the Sabres were so keen on activating the defense on offense that they had no idea what to do in the defensive zone. It was a train wreck.
I'm happy for Lehner, but his addiction does not absolve him of his role in the debacle. I was a huge supporter of his through his first two years. I could see the potential, but his behavior played a major role in the under-performing Sabres. The fact that throughout this season he kept making comments about the "negative environment" really pissed me off. With all due respect, he was hungover every game (by his own admission), and generally sucked ass his last year here.
And Tim Murray absolutely deserves blame for acquiring him for 1st round pick. Surely he knew him from Ottawa, and Brian wouldn't have pulled the wool over his eyes as to his behavior. He hitched his wagon to that guy.
Robin should have gotten his poop together. He didn't until it was too late for us. So good for him, but also, his unprofessional behavior cost us quite a bit.
So I'm not ready to make an excuse for the guy. He's good at doing that for himself |

I take that as two guys that know each other from when one was the coach and the other was a player who went to FLA for some fishing or something along those lines.
In no way shape or form is the GM and potential coaching hire taking a routine flight. They’d be flying good ol’ Pegula One. |

I wasn't absolving him of anything...the defense and defensive schemes while he was here amounted to horsepoop and when he went to the island, "exorcised personal demons" and landed in a structured system with the reigning Stanley cup winning head coach...just pointing that stuff out |

Where do I sign? - ImThatGuy
Palat has Evan Rodrigues stats and makes $5.3m - hard pass
and Killorn produced like Jason Pominville
