Why go into such detail about the Matthews goal and fail to mention the offside Boston goal?
|
|
|
|
Rask would never have gotten across in time, even without the bump from Hyman. That’s the piece you’re failing to recognize here. It’s like pass interference in the NFL - it’s not an infraction if the pass is deemed uncatchable
You also failed to call out the offside on Boston’s goal, which was a much more egregious miss
So even if you’ve convinced yourself that the Matthews goal shouldn’t have counted, then the score should have been 1-0, not 1-1
But by all means, continue to pretend you don’t have an anti-Leafs bias |

This is not the NFL. Not how it works. |

Leafs should have refused to accept the goal and played shorthanded for the rest of the game as a gesture of good faith like the bruins and habs would of done. |

Honestly? Because I think the goalie interference calls are just ridiculous...I don't like Toronto or Boston so I don't really care who wins...as for the offside, that wasn't that obvious to me depending on the angle of the replay.... but they really should use the same line technology as they now do in the EPL sends a signal when the ball has entirely crossed the line...perhaps there's a way to tweak that for offside? |

Lol I really don't... I've never hated any team more than Boston but think what you want

Yeah, you do though. It’s cool, I don’t like the Habs either. But at least own it |

Honestly, it's much more clear a non goal than the Matthews one.
My issue is the media (And people love to claim they are pro Toronto) only speaking 100% last night about the Matthews goal and failing to even mention once about the offside.
The narrative that Boston got screwed is hilarious.
Leafs have been 31st the past 2 years in PP opportunities, they are also last in coach's challenges (0-5), Boston had 3 PPs to Toronto 1 last night. Boston has had 4 more total PPs in the series, and also had more last year in the playoffs. |

I've not said anything about bias, I'm well aware that Boston got more PPs than TO....the goalie interference goal just appealed to me more because it seems that those decisions are random and there's a lot of them. I just don't see the offsides as a big issue, there's a lot less controversy over those I believe but still, I'm all for a way to make that situation better as well though, in the end all improvements are welcome.
I'll tell you what I liked about Toronto so far in this series though, Marner that kid has got hell of a lot of talent.

Bunch of wankers in here.
Thing with the pp is that jabs don’t have other dangerous players unlike wash to have that shot open... |

I guess everyone overlooks the offsides that Boston scored on? Or the many cross-checks from Chara on Hyman before the goal is scored. |

You never really know what the standard is because it does shift. Not entirely sure what a very different goal scored over 2 years ago has to do with the present day though.
In terms of the standard the league has set this year, this one fit right in it. They don't care as much if the goalie is bumped at all. Much less if the contact was incidental, the goalie was partially out of his crease, and when the contact happened there was no chance he was making it over to the complete other side of his net before that shot got there.
Going straight by the rule it is fine. There's no objective way to prove that contact was intentional or deliberate. And Rask was free to move within his crease and wouldn't have had any contact if he wasn't partially out of it. So first part is cleared too. The idea is supposed to be to let the goalie be free and clear in their crease.
Two goals were challenged in the game and both were upheld. |
