If the Leafs can't sign Gardiner, how are they able to sign Myers if he's looking for $40million over 6 seasons? |

I remember the first game Red played. I grew up in Detroit in an unhappy blue-collar poor family. I grew up in a run-down trailer home in Warren, Michigan with my alcoholic mother, my younger sister Lily, and my mother's abusive live-in boyfriend Greg.
Although encouraged by my friends, I worried about my potential as a rapper. One night, I faltered during a rap battle at a local venue, the Shelter, and I left the stage humiliated.
During the day, I worked at a car factory. When I asked for extra shifts, my supervisor rudely dismisses my request on account of my habitual tardiness.
Over time, I began to take more responsibility for the direction of my life. When I showed an improved attitude and performance at work, my supervisor granted me the extra shifts I requested.
Meanwhile, my mother received an eviction notice as she can't pay rent. Despite my mother's best attempts to keep the eviction notice a secret, Greg finds out about it. A fight ensues between him and I, and Greg leaves my mother for good. My friendship with Wink, a radio DJ with ties to a record label promoter, becomes strained after I discovered that Wink does promotional work for my rivals, a rap group known as the "Leaders of the Free World".
At one point, My friends and I get into a violent brawl with the Leaders, which is disrupted when my friend Cheddar Bob pulls out a gun and accidentally shoots himself in the leg; he survives but is confined to crutches.
At work one day when on lunch break, I witnessed a rap battle in which an employee insults a gay co-worker, Paul. I joined the battle and defend Paul. Alex is impressed by my actions and has sex with me in the factory. Wink arranges for me to meet with producers at a recording studio, but I find Wink and Alex engaging in intercourse.
Enraged, I attacked Wink as Alex tries to break up our altercation. In retaliation, Wink and the Leaders of the Free World assault me outside my trailer. The leader of the gang, Papa Doc, holds me at gunpoint, threatening to kill me before being dissuaded by Wink.
My best friend and battle host, Future, pushes me to get revenge by competing against the Leaders of the Free World at the next rap battle. However, my late-night shift conflicts with the timing of the next battle tournament. A goodbye visit from Alex, who is moving to New York, changes my mind about competing, and Paul agrees to cover my shift at work as a favor while I go to the battle.
In all rounds of the rap battle, I have to compete against one member of "the Leaders". After winning the first two rounds, I face off against Papa Doc and ultimately win by exposing all of his opponent's weaknesses as well as his own. With nothing to say in rebuttal, Papa Doc hands the microphone back to Future, embarrassed. After being congratulated by Alex and my friends, I'm offered a position by Future, hosting battles at The Shelter. I declined, saying I had to go my own way. I walked on and as the credits roll, the song 'Lose Yourself' starts playing. RIP Red. |

Why not save the trouble and just write "Any players that might be traded out there involves the Leafs and Flyers who are in on it." That is all I have seen lately is Leafs and Flyers in on all players. |

Yep, there’s no way the leafs can afford Myers. I’m sure if they could afford him they’d keep Gardiner around instead. |

It’s not like Pens are spending almost $8M on two bottom pairing dmen, so sure, why not.
Oh wait... |
|
|
|
Myers is worth a 2-3 year deal between 3-4 million per year. He is a good third pair D who can fill in on the top 2 pairs when injuries hit, but hopefully for not to long! and he can NOT play his off wing.
anyone giving Myers 4-6 million on a deal longer than 3 years, have fun and good luck to you. hope its not Winnipeg |
|
|
|
In terms of UFA signings, I can see Peg trying to keep Myers or go after one of Gardiner or Karlsson but settle for Hainsey type player and contract.
As a Leaf fan, heres the leafs angle and Nyl-29 is the bait (of course :-P)....
Dubas is going to be looking at STL and WPG D-Men again this summer.
WPG - Trouba
Dubas will likely circle back given they were rumoured to be interested in this player 2years ago the first time he was an RFA. Leafs will probably offer a package along with Nylander because right handed PMD commands a premium but it will also have to be a dollar in-dollar out sort of deal for both teams.
STL - Parayko/Peits
- A lot of rumours last summer and into the fall about the Leafs and these two players. both fit the profile for what 30 other teams are looking for. I can see this being a Nyl-20 ++ tye deal
Whether Chevy and/or Armstrong are interested in Nylander is another matter. |
