And we’re moving up for a defenseman and still have a gaping hole at the most important position
“Waits for some one to say he’s the next Drew Doughty “ - gerbe75pts
If we're not moving up for the top 2, it's a waste of resources. Hindsight 3 years from now may say different, but today, it's wasteful |

Could Kruger be a two year option and move up when Grönborg's contract is up? Just because Botts didn't interview him for the HC job doesn't mean he didn't talk to him. He signed the new contract pretty quickly. May have been a result of the hypothetical conversation.
Keefe is a good option, but I could see him waiting one more year to see if Babcock gets canned if the Leafs fall early again next season.
Still don't know why Marc Crawford's name never comes up. Ottawa had him as interim coach and have not offered him the fulltime gig yet.
Perhaps they are waiting on someone still in the playoffs. Maybe someone like Joe Sacco in Boston. |

general question:
if Toronto uses the same system with both the Leafs and the Marlies, and the Leafs have gotten bounced out of the playoffs in the first round three consecutive seasons, what's the case to be made for keefe that he'll be more successful than bacbcock? |

general question #2:
If gronborg was never a head coach above teir III junior A level, what makes someone believe he'd be a better coach than Housley, who never coached above high-school level? |

Why would it hurt him ? Plenty of small players disagree If you got game and a high IQ you will be fine
Johnny hockey was drafted at 145 pounds at 5’7 -5’8 and one of the top players in the nhl
You have DeBrincat 5’7 scoring 40 goals
You have Brad Marchand 5’8 -5’9 on skates
Scoring how many points in the National Hockey League ?
These thing about size matters is nothing in the nhl - gerbe75pts
Johnny Hockey has gotten owned 2 straight playoffs in a row though. Debrincant remains to be seen, and Marchand is 5’10 and tough as nails. I don’t see Caufield intimidating anyone and throwing his body around at the next level. |

I’m kinda with you on this. Kinda
I think it’s naive to think that someone like Keefe or The Swede comes in and does things completely different than other coaches
That being said I’d rather have them to see if they are the next best thing |

Arvidsson has been invisible the last two years in the playoffs as well. |

The Soo Grey Hounds were a mess before he got there, turned them into a winner. He gets to Toronto and wins a Calder Cup and dispatches the Amerks in 3 straight this year and could very well win it again. He’s young and his teams play for him, seems to be a strong communicator. |

Gronborg was the 'folk hero' kinda pick for many of us here for various reasons. When I read he hasn't coached a full season in 14 years and that was as an assistant in the WHL, it gave me pause. His best attempt to coach in NA as a way of cutting his teeth would be as a HC in the AHL or as an assistant coach for an NHL team, similar to what Housley did. |

The fact that he's doing it with sub par talent with the Marlies is incredible. |

the leafs have what might be the best group of forwards in the league, but they haven't got past the first round...if the leafs and marlies play the same system, you think that he'll get the leafs to play for him more than they do for babcock? |

If Botterill is insisting on prior HC experience, I would prefer he go with someone who might still have some upside as a coach. Not knowing the specifics of all their experiences during their respective first go-arounds, I would like the Sabres to consider:
Glen Gulutzen
Bob Boughner
Kevin Dineen
Scott Arneil
Dallas Eakins
Tony Granato
Patrick Roy
There are probably others. At one time, all of the above were considered HCs in waiting, but things didn't work out. Maybe a 2nd chance is what they need.
Please no to Jacques Martin, Lindy Ruff, Ken Hitchcock. The only exception for a twice (or more) fired coach I would make is Dave Tippett because I don't think he was given much to work with in the desert. |

The Leafs gave Boston a better run then CBJ did. The Bruins will dispatch of the Canes as well. Tukka Rask came up big when it counted and Kadri would rather watch games from the press box then help his team on the ice.
Babcock’s biggest problem is his stubbornness and reluctance to do in game changes. Why did Patrick Marleau play more then Auston Matthews in Game 7 ? His PK operated at like a 40% rate and they still almost won a series. |

Same reason why he doesn’t have the C doesn’t have heart and only shows up when he wants
You should know this
