Keep him on as the 7th d-man. He can play both the left and right side so that can prove to be valuable at some point when injuries arise. |

Why would a defenseman who’s only 24 retire? Does he have chicken neck? |

"However, if contract talks fail to get off in the right direction, multiple sources close to the situation have told TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta that Laine is willing to explore all of his options and that includes the possibility of signing an offer sheet with another club or asking for a trade.
Laine’s picture will become clearer once contract negotiations resume. The Jets have certainly made it a priority to get him signed and his next deal, depending on term, could see him earn around $10 million, per season."
I would love to get Laine, however $10m is pretty steep. If Skinner demands $9m I would be more interested in paying Laine $10m. 6'5" 205lb winger who is only 21 would fit our timeline better.
Laine and Trouba for Risto, Nylander, CJ Smith late 1st and a 3rd |

From last blog. Did anyone see this quote?
It won’t be the first time teams have reached out. Alfie has been taking calls for months and has an idea where Alex, who has committed to play college hockey at Wisconsin, will land.
“We’ve come to the conclusion it’s between 3 and 7,” Alfie said. “He’s not going to get past Buffalo at 7. I had interviews with Buffalo myself. This was before the lottery. They said if they had the third pick, they’re taking Alex. But you never know how it’s going to play out. Draft day there can be trades and switching picks.” |

Sounds about right. Turcotte is going to be a really good hockey player. He reminds me a lot of Barkov. |

If he’s there at 5, think we trade 7 and 30 for the pick? |

Very possible. I love Turcotte. He’s why I started the tank train in the first place. Little unfortunate with the lotto luck but we will still get a really good hockey player at 7. I’m excited for whoever we pick. |

Same here. Top 10 this year looks extremely promising. If we have him at 3 then I hope we make a realistic attempt to get him. Eichel/Turcotte/Mitts/Asplund down the middle in 2 years |

I was hoping because of his injuries he would be there for us at 5 or 6 but it doesn’t look like scouts are going to make the “Barzal” mistake again. |

If Chi doesn’t take Turcotte or Byram, then the odds get better. I just find it unlikely that turcotte falls to 7 |

Berglund Also lost his love for the game lol
"I had a hard time adjusting to it, and just the situation overall in Buffalo. I didn't agree with a lot of things about how they wanted to play me and wanted to do things, and in the end I wasn't enjoying hockey anymore."

This is what people say when they want to justify the ROR trade. They assume when he said he sometimes lost his love for the game, that he wanted out. Heck, probably every guy on that team felt the same. But unless someone here directly heard O'Reilly say he wanted out, or if there's video of him saying it, then I won't believe it.
And lets just say for arguments sake that he wanted out and demanded a trade. How about saying "tough sh!t...you're staying here anyway". or even "OK, I'll see what I can do, but I'm not promising anything". I think it was just a matter of Botts making a horrible decision to make the trade, and then getting totally worked over by St Louis. Total incompetence on his part - and nothing to do with ownership. We gave up a pretty good player for arguably the 3 worst players on the Blues, and a late round 1 pick. Awful.
I won't move on. I'll never get over it. I'll go to my grave knowing Botts is a moron due to this trade. - kritter65
Or it’s what people say when a player has wanted out twice(2 times in Colorado) before.
He has a history of wanting to take his puck and go elsewhere. |

One of Boldy, Zegras, Dach will be there at 7 and should be the pick imo. I wouldn’t complain if we selected Caufield or Krebs either though. |

Turcotte, Cozens, or Dach are my hope. Zegras or Boldy, if everything goes wrong.

I can't see how Chicago passes on the hometown kid. We need to pick a center at 7. Cozens or Zegras would be ideal although I do like Boldy. This a center heavy draft in the 1st so we should get one. |
