If we missed out on Ehlers I’d be bummed. Trouba? He’s going to cost a ton and we have too much to work on at forward. |

no sense in buffalo throwing 1st round picks and prospects at any team for a player that could turn into a one-year rental...
buffalo should not be in the rental business |

I dunno... yeah he’s going to cost some dough but when you can add a player that good for essentially cap space (given the low acquisition cost) there should be a lot of management teams kicking themselves right now... |

There are quite a few teams in similar situation as Wpg. We should be able to get a good forward for similar price |

I really hope J-Botts can work some magic on those phones this off season. A top 4 Defenseman, a second line center and another winger that can score 20 goals...
I don't know how he does it without creating another hole somewhere else in the lineup.
Also, are the other GM's looking at him like a rube after the 'trade that shall not be named'? |

Ever think of how the trade would be viewed if Binnington doesn’t come along? Stl finishes bottom 12 and probably sells off pieces. ROR labeled a locker room killer. Sabres get a better draft pick. Ahhh, what could have been.

but the return if you moved him at the deadline, would have been at worst, what the rangers paid to get him in the first place

this was pretty much the same return as the canes got for skinner
low risk, high reward for the start of the season
unless a serious injury occurs, flip him at the deadline if you don't want to roll the dice with arbitration
it's time to build something special instead of blah blah blah

don't forget skinner waived to come to buffalo, and one would think that botts had a pretty good indication that he'd re-sign...
Trouba is a gamble...yes they could flip him, but not sure they need turnover like that

Could they not have taken Trouba to arbitration and accepted the two year award? |
