Still banging the Couterier drum I see. Just for the hell of it what do you propose they give up? Girgenson and 2nd? |

Philadelphia Flyers pivot Sean Couturier is still an option.
Like Scarlett Johansson is still an option for me. |

GARTH'S CORNER: What’s Buzzin’ Cozens? - garth
Try as they might to build a playoff contending team, the Buffalo Sabres are in need of a dollop of good luck. Eight years and counting of missing the Stanley Cup playoffs has been a jagged pill for Sabreland to gulp down.
How is this possible. For 8 years you have been telling us of the awesomeness of Lindy and Darcy, The value of Murrency, and how great GMJB is. You know the GM who gained the 5 premium pieces for ROR.
You hyped the talents of the "Latvian Locomotive, the greatness of Kane, how Jack and his jorts are here to save the day.
I am pretty sure you have no idea about hockey, hockey players, or talent in general.
You are good for laughs though |

In which universe is Courturier an option for Buffalo?
I've seen some dumb things said, but WOW. Might as well add McDavid for a couple mid round picks too. |

I have been a fan of MoJo for years. But with his injury history I'm not sure that I would call a $4.5mAAV "very economical". I think that it is at best exactly what he is worth. If anything is economical it is the term. |

Mikael Granlund... Preds have too many centers and Granlund is not the defensive, checking specialist for a 4th line behind Duchene, Johansen, Turris. |

Couturier is not an option as he is not being moved from Philly. He is their top center, #1 goal scorer, and only getting paid a hair over $4 per....dream on. |

You forgot about GM Tim Murray being a Riverboat Gambler who reads the trade market like a Stock Broker on the Stock Market and always gets his man, and of course the Pegulajet
I think it was 4 Premium Pieces for Conn Smyth winner ROR, 2 of those Pieces are either out of the league, or soon to be - As the Sabres still look for a consistent 2nd line Center.... |

Sorry Flyer fans, but if you want to get your hands on the Sabres scraps, you have no choice but to hand over Couturier.
Just like when San Jose wanted Kane, they would have had be willing to part with Couture. |

The AVV seems about right, it's the Term that makes it a good deal. More low risk than economical though. |

Sabres have a conundrum on their hands.
They need a 2C for a short period of time only, 1 - 2 years until Mitts is better developed to take on that role.
So do they spend Bottscoins now to grab a young C for that period? I'd prefer a Stall-like acquisition...but he'd be crazy to use Risto for that short-term acquisition. Do they limp along this season and develop Mitts once again on-the-job? |

It is nice to see you are back at it, Garth. With anyone else I would just assume that they were trolling the Flyers fans but I suspect that you actually think there is a way Couturier could end up as a Sabre.
It will be interesting to see how Vesey pans out in Buffalo. As you may remember (but are probably trying to forget) he initially rejected the Sabres, thinking that he was too good or whatever. He found out that he was not as good as he thought he would be at the NHL level and was basically a non-factor on a NYR team that failed to make the playoffs.
The Vesey signing wasn't bad on GMJB's part (low risk/decent potential for reward) but it remains to be seen whether he can help the Sabres significantly or if he will just finish his career in the minors. |

It seems the snipeshow will be closing its doors in Buffalo with a total of 3 goals in 19 games.
