Thanks for all you do Bill!
Neuvirth was unreal in the playoffs when we went to him... had the most potential of those in our recent goalie carousel.
I hope he makes the Leafs... if healthy enuf I’m sure he will.

Just saying, Chris Pronger was awesome. I don't think we'll ever see another player like him: the on-ice ability, the leader, and the on-ice antics are all top-notch. Was he a Richard? Absolutely. But man, he was just a hell of a player.

FWIW, Scott Wheeler's column this morning at The Athletic lists the top 50 drafted NHL prospects (in his opinion).

The first Flyer prospect checks in at #24, Cam York.

Morgan Frost is #32

Joel Farabee is #35

This of course is just one man's opinion, but it should give Team Negative plenty of ammunition for a good day's whine.

All of Pronger's antics had a purpose, the purpose was to gain an edge and create fear and uncertainty in the opposition, which in turn served the greater purpose of winning at all costs.

They did, but take, for instance, him laughing at DiPietro when he wanted to fight Carcillo. Some of the stuff was almost comical to an extent...but yeah, he always used any advantage that he could, and it worked 95% of the time.

Definitely the top heel of the NHL. You get the sense that he enjoyed it, too.

Well, I guess it makes me happy that York may turn out to be a great pick.

I think all that stuff only seemed more effective because he was otherwise such a supreme hockey player. Sean Avery pulled the same kind of poop, without the results.

Will be interesting to see how York looks on a less star-studded team, shouldering more of the load. I'm optimistic, since they can afford to be patient with him.

Granted, Justin Bieber doesn't have the build of your typical NHL player, but all Pronger did was gently push him, and that was still the result. Dude was as strong as they come. Also, he was (frank)ing ripped.

I mean, I get what he's saying with the history and the fans and all, but Real Madrid has been a force in the Champions League and basically every other league they've played in over the last decade.

In the very narrow sense of "they make enough money that they can actually set fire to entire barrels of it and not feel the pain", the Toronto Maple Leafs are indeed the Real Madrid of the NHL. In virtually every other sense, they are not.

That team has a net worth of over $4 billion dollars. And this is in a country that had a crippled economy until about 3 years ago.

Edit: Spain, not Canada. I thin it's absurd that a sports team makes hundreds of millions of dollars, let alone several billion.

Oh come on now! I wouldnt call Canada's economy crippled.. I mean.. I know they make most of their money smuggling maple syrup in to the States and all that, but... wait.. you werent talking about Canada? Oh.. umm.. right. Ok.
