Cory Schneider only played one season in NJ while Brodeur was still there, and Cory played more games than Martin that season. I'll agree he was wasted behind Luongo, but he was always the #1 in NJ. |

Don’t worry. Once the season starts the daily floggings of JJ will resume. I bet RW is secretly wishing that JJ doesn’t get traded but it’s clear that if he does, EG will be the new whipping boy. |

He was then "wasted" by being on a terrible team. Frankly Schneider probably cost the Devils at least one of McDavid/Eichel/Matthews/Laine (not that we can really complain now winning the lottery twice in three years...)
Definitely frustrating that he was great when the Devils were awful and now that they're looking to turn the corner he has fallen off so badly. Hopefully Blackwood is the real deal and Schneider will just be a very over priced backup. Some people think Schneider can still rebound but I think it's wishful thinking at this point. |

It’s obvious that his main whipping boy is Jim Rutherford. But the induction to the Hall of Fame, GM of the year and those 3-Stanley Cups would cast too much shade on him going directly at him. Blogger with an agenda beginning to look more like yesterday’s Bob Mueller. |

Not sure about the Flyers selection. I would probably take JvR over Braun. JvR is one of the worst defensive forwards in the league and has been for many years now, so the team will be basically shorthanded when he is out there. Then add in the fact he has zero work ethic or effort, so you add him to a line with terrible forwards and he instantly goes from a 25-30 goal puck pusher and deflector into a floating 5 goal turd.
Braun generates limited offense, but is still steady in his own end at his age, but JvR produces zero offense and is a huge defensive liability without talent doing the work for him. The ultimate definition of a pigeon. |

How is 27 goals (19 at even strength) in 66 games considered "zero offense?" |

🙋🏼♂️ Me. I’m one of those optimistic fools that thinks Schneider still has above average goaltending left in the tank. Why? Because I watched him a fair bit last year. He had some really solid games this past season. I remember his first solid game, it was all over TSN and SN. He played SO WELL. None of the goals against were his fault, they were all redirects off his own teammates and he looked so downtrodden but he followed it up with more quality hockey. He was solid at the WHC as well. With a better team and a better D unit in front of him I wouldn’t be surprised to see a .919sv% or so |

Match I agree with you. JVR has some quality stretches last year. The other guy is right that he’s not good defensively, but neither is Phil. They’re still good players
I disagree with him about Braun. Braun is way overpaid for the defense he provides. Ineffectivemath has a chart on him somewhere. No bueno |

He has already rebounded. He started last season as a train wreck following surgery and ultimately ended fairly strongly. The question is how good can he still be at 33? He will benefit from an improved defense but I doubt he will ever be considered elite again. But he might be decent and a good tandem with Blackwood. |

Is Applebees still in the Devils' plans? Only saw him once, but he looked pretty sharp. |

Good call on JVR. Good hands around the net, but he literally brings nothing else to the table. Every shift he doesn’t score a goal, he’s a complete liability
Philly always seems to under-achieve, and sometimes it’s unclear why that is. But then you see the contracts they gave to JVR and (especially) Hayes, and it makes sense. Those will be gigantic anchors for years |

I have not seen any point in his career when he was 5-goal player. But if you'd like to show me where those numbers come from, I'd be more than happy to agree with you. |

my guess is you have rarely seen Braun play any games. |

It’s just a silly statement. “If you put a top 6 forward with two 4th liners, he’s gonna struggle.”
All you’re proving with that statement is that he’s not McDavid. |

Yes...if you put ANY player with less skilled players, their numbers are going to decrease. This is true of pretty much all non-elite players.
But where are you getting this magic number of 5? |
