After the Talbot signing, I think they had to give Rittich the same. How do you expect your no. 1 to sign for less than the 1b ?
Todd, they're not going to have 3 goalies on the roster and they're going to have to send down a forward as well. So they have around 6.3 million in cap space. Still have to move someone. Stone and a 3rd for a 1million garbage contract coming back ? |

I think Stone is more likely to be bought out. Window closes Thursday at 5 eastern |

A wee bit high, but Treliving kind of screwed that one by giving Talbot so much. Let's hope the Rittich is the next Kipper and not the next Hammond. |

i was expecting around 3 so I’d say this is a great deal. I think now although it’s been rumoured they don’t want to I think trading Brodie’s for futures would be best and I say this even though he’s one of my favourites on the team. The most unacknowledged problem with the lucic deal was that it thinned our our already thin rw and added to log jam at lw. Take away frolic and our depth goes lindholm-czarnik-foo?. I expect Bennett to be shifted over and maybe they’d try mangiapane there if they do trade frolik but who knows as of right now our LW depth goes Johnny-chucky-Bennett-mangiapane-lucic-dube. Personally I think that with drafting Pelletier in the first round I’d try developing dube at centre in the ahl this year considering Derek Ryan May become a cap casualty when rasmus Anderson, hamonic, kylington up next summer and I think he played there in junior |

Simple for most to understand...rittich signed for more than his resume has him worth(unlike koskinen who career resume as a goalie has him worth more in term and salary)...typical Cordelly and flames fan spin having to always compare to the oilers all the time...inferiority complex defined... |

I disagree. The guy was the 1a on the top team in the West. I think this is right in the middle of expectation, which was somewhere between 2.5-3. Hopefully not a flash in the pan and last year proves to be the start of a long career. |

Who cares what you think, just go back to your oiler thread. Just so you know Rittch has played more NHL games by age 26 than Koskinen has at age 31. Rittch also played a few years for BK Miga in the Czech league prior. I would say his trajectory is better than Koskinen. But you just keep thinking you have the better goalie even though Rittch has the better save % in the NHL. |

No one has any idea what Rittich is. His numbers were inflated by an amazing first month, then he was average for a few months, and then he was bad after the all-star break. In both of his seasons when he got the chance to be the unquestioned number one guy, he struggled. Is he a legit number 1? 1A? 1B? Great backup?
The biggest red flag is that he was awful playing in the Saddledome. It's crazy that he went 13-2-4 at home, but had a 3.24 GAA and .885 save percentage.
A one year deal at 2 million would have been perfect to try and figure out what he is, but I also think they were out of RFA years so his contract is alright. |

Assuming Magpie gets $900K, add back Gillies $750K & add back Quine $732K, that will leave about $5.4 mill left. Buyout Stone & that adds $2.2mill, that should be enough to get Chucky resigned. It'll be close. |

If they buyout Stone, they'll have to pay someone else to sit in the pressbox...either a forward or D if they decide to only have 7 D. Plus they get a 1.2 cap hit next season. That's why I don't think a buyout is a very good idea. Even if it costs an asset, they should make a trade to free up the needed cap space. |

Tkachuk isn't signing for anything less then $8 million per year.

You may be right, but I dont think Tkachuk is signing for anything over 8.0mill. So knowing Treliving, he'll get him in the 7's. Question will be how many years he can get him at that number. Im hoping a 6 year deal at least. |

Well not really because I had 7 D in my calculations. Gio, Brodie, Hammy, Hanny, Andersen, Valimaki & Kyllington as the 7th D.
Side Note: I do think they may prefer to keep him if they wind up moving Brodie. |

Fair enough. I'm going on the assumption that they'll want an 23 man roster. They could go with 22 all season though. |

With Johnny they did use the whole we don’t want anyone making more than the captain thing ...I don’t think that’s going to cut it anymore |

Johnny had zero leverage and wasn't from a known family of d-bags.

Agree. He’ll top the payroll scale, there’s no doubt. I just trust the sales pitch Tre is selling. |

Yeah, BT wanted to save a bit of money to be able sign UFAs, In retrospect, giving johnny more money for more term would have been a better idea. I think BTs buyouts and other bad signings have handcuffed the team more than paying a bit more for the star players would have. |
