IIHF and NHL have different regulations.
Edit: But I assume cocaine is on the NHL's list. |

it's not.

They might start suspending with Kuzzy, since it's a bit high profile. But it's a league wide issue, and they haven't suspended in the past for recreational drugs |

I don't think he should be made an example of in the NHL. They should require him to seek treatment if it's more than a one time thing, and they should maybe consider adding it to the ban list for the future. |

The NHL doesn’t care about recreational drugs unless it’s obvious you have a problem. They’ll step in and try to give help then. |

I’m not surprised that the NHL would turn a blind eye to this. Wasn’t Messier and other Oilers known for their coke habits? Kevin Stevens, while on the Pens, had a drug problem. I’m sure there are plenty of documented cases.
I’m all for getting players treatment, but they also should be suspended if they’re caught with that in their system. I would get suspended or fired from my job if I tested positive for cocaine or worse. Why are athletes, who are tested for every PED known to man, exempt from doing crack? |

The nhl has agreements with the iihf to allow players to play in these tournaments so basically he was representing his country, the nhl, and the capitals. It would be nice to see some sort of slap on the wrist. The coke video and now this. I’d say there should at least be some sort of apology and admission of guilt/ help seeked. Great role model. |

So... is an NHL suspension soon to come?
Cause that'd hurt the Caps quite a bit |

Cocaine isn't considered a PED by the NHL/NHLPA under the CBA. Cocaine is not crack. Not everyone that does cocaine has a "drug problem"

If cocaine is not on the list of drugs they are looking for, it should be ignored as far as suspensions go. Otherwise they can invade his privacy by looking for many other things I'd imagine. This shouldn't have even been made public in my opinion. |

You would also be fired if you took an employee from a competing firm and knocked them to the ground with your shoulder right in front of your boss. |

If you can go to a sporting event and yell “f$ck her in the p&ssy” and then lose your job. I’d say testing positive for drugs while representing you country team and league deserves at least to be made public. Unless athletes are untouchable superheroes who get to live by different rule than the rest of us. |

Really not a laughing matter. Obviously he has a substance issue since he has lied and tried to cover it up. |
