Mantha still a beast. (frank) the Habs.

Next stop is against Babs and the gang. Fully expect a high flying, high scoring game.

Hell of a game for Point in his debut. 3 points.

I think we will give the Leafs a run for their money.

This was the best win so far in this early season. The Wings did not let up the whole game or implode in the third period like we saw last year so that was encouraging. They had a lot of traffic in front of Price most of the game and got some good second chances in front of him. Bernier played the way I hoped he would when the Wings signed him... he was excellent.

Still can't stand seeing Glendening on that second line... I've been hoping Blashill would insert Svechnikov on the 2nd line and see what happens. Good grief... why call the kid up if you aren't going to play him. Makes no sense.

I'd like to be optimistic against the Leafs on Saturday... but that team has some serious fire power up front (and our defense is crap). I'll be surprised if they win that game.

Meh. Svechnikov gets practice with the big boys, gets two NHL paychecks, and doesn’t miss any Griffins hockey. Their next game is tomorrow.

I'm just loving the hustle I've been seeing from this Red Wings team. I'm starting to really like Adam Erne. He hits someone each time he's on the ice. He's just a royal pain in the a$$ to play against. 😂

I feel more comfortable with Bernier in net than I do with Howard. Especially in third periods where Howard usually craps the bed.

I agree. These kids skate hard. When guys go after Larkin, Bert and Mo step in. The attitude is different. They are hungry and seem to be a closer group.

Definitely agree with you about Bernier. I hope he takes over the starter role and can play well consistently. My biggest gripe with Howard has always been his inconsistency and imploding in the third period (when he lets in multiple goals).

This team does seem more energized this year than I've seen in a long time. Hope they keep bringing it every night. Makes the game a lot more fun to watch.

It's also nice to see this team not throw in the towel when they get scored on. I was worried when the Habs scored that late goal in the first period. The Wings had pretty much dominated up until that point.

Last year the team would've quit and dogged it the rest of the game feeling sorry for themselves. But they got it right back almost immediately. Even when the Habs tied up at 2 the team didn't panic. They just kept grinding. They can stay in alot of games this season if they can keep hustling like that. ☺

Well put. Knowing this is a rebuilding team, effort means a lot. Watching the team push through and stay with it is really encouraging. I feel like Larkin/Bertuzzi/mantha make it hard for the opposition each shift, and wearing down the D helped Helm get the first goal. The lines roll and play hard. Fun to watch. Great comments, thanks!

Each time Mantha shoots the puck I think it's going in. He wired one right off the cross bar and Price didn't even move.

Wings are looking good. Of course, the local boy has to come in and tear it up. No Zadina?

Zadina needs to tear it up in the AHL first. He hasn't done that yet.

Kid can be either really good to a real bust. Would like to see him work on some shots from the slot or crashing the goalie. Shooting from the hash marks and perimeter can only work for so long.

Hey folks, going to Detroit for a couple days. Going to be there for the leafs and wings game tomorrow and then watch some football at a bar on Sunday. Any recommendations near the arena or Greek town casino!? Thanks

I can tell you from watching Zadina play in GR all of last season he is not ready for NHL primetime. And the numbers he put up bear that out as well. He's at least another year away (minimum) before he's NHL ready. Of all the top prospects, I was hoping he'd be more of an impact player being a #6 overall pick.

He's only 19, so no need to hit the panic button. I remember Tatar struggled for a couple years before he hit his stride in GR and then his confidence came and he became a NHL player.
