Field a team of 18 skaters, two goaltenders, put them in an NHL uniform and have them skate for 60 minutes against them.

I am at a loss as I do not know why they are playing so uninspired. Coaching? Locker room? Talent? All of the above?

Duly noted that the Sabres need an infusion up front and, let's say they can get the two plus needed parts, my question is:

WHERE DOES THE GRIT AND HEART COME FROM GOING FORWARD?

I think the team mindset needs to be positively adjusted and I do not believe a talent upgrade completes the process.

Even St Louis made a move (albeit a small one in Brouwer) in wake of injury.

Our whole TEAM is bleeding !

This roster needs a move just to shake things up. Make them look over their shoulders more.

Bring in another scrub. They can’t play any worse.

The leaders and the best players are all pulling in the same direction - and pulling more than their share of the weight - but other than the 3 forwards, you could ask the rest: "what would you say you do here?"

It's a poop show. Mojo's return will help somewhat, but at some point some of these poopty forwards have to show up to do SOMETHING because JB is just going to sit on his hands

if you are in this team don't you welcome being traded? is making a move really making them look over their shoulder? unless that move is start sending players to the AHL. send vesey down, send dahlin down, send ollofson down.. those i guess are moves that could do something

It should not be viewed as one or the other, skill in Top 6 player or Grit and Haert in Bottom 6.

It needs to be both, therein lies the challenge...finding a guy with both.

I have said it a million times, the team needs truculence, ala players like the Tkachuck brothers.
No they aren't getting traded, but that gives an example of the TYPE of player needed.

Is Tuch available from VGK..nope, not unless Botts wowed them..so go mf'ing wow them!

You call 83 games of the past 103 a slump?

The "slump", properly called an anomaly is the two 10 game segments so far.

I think the Larson’s, Girg’s,etc would all fear being moved because there’s no guarantee they stay with the team they get moved to.

JB should waive a couple guys and keep Asplund and Lazar up. Aside from Eichel, Dahlin and Skinner no one should be untouchable. Hell. Move Skunk if you can improve the team.

When Mojo comes back, send Mittelstadt down. Riding the bus will be a real wakeup call. Just use Lazar at center

He ate a can of spinach before the interview though.

When Mojo comes back, send Mittelstadt down. Riding the bus will be a real wakeup call. Just use Lazar at center

I'm very happy to be here. I look forward to watching them lose 4-2 tonight. Eichel and Skinner with the goals. The coach and GM will say they just need to focus on the details

Lockport Larry is playing tonight ..... all problems are solved on offense.

Botts fired yet?

Great post MP, a game plan that no doubt is common across the league. I am waiting to observe how Krueger adapts to the tactics employed by the other teams. I am still waiting as appears nothing has changed in response. I understood RK is a great tactician, so I'm hoping to see it in action. Then again, perhaps the gaping void in talent simply cannot perform to the expectation, and RK is stuck without his boss not providing players who can adapt. I dunno, just want to thank you for the excellent writing in this post, and in all of them you do. Cheers man.
