This is a situation where it's too bad the NCAA rules don't allow for emergency call-ups. Tyler Madden is back from Northern Ireland as he continues his outstanding sophomore season at Northeastern

I wonder if this will change sometime soon. The NCAA just announced a little over a month ago that they were going to allow their players to be paid for their likenesses to be used elsewhere, meaning NCAA hockey players will likely be in the future NHL video games. Could signify that more change will be coming down the line as they give the players more freedom.

Good point. I hadn't really thought about those two issues being connected, but what you're saying makes sense.

I guess my expectation is that it will be a very drawn-out process. The institutions will only relinquish as much power as is absolutely required, and I'm sure they'll drag their heels all the way.
