I hope they offer Dalton a wink wink/nudge nudge bonus to knock Cernaks teeth out and then stand over him tauntingly. Sure, he'll never play in th NHL again, but what were the chances of that any way? |

No - SABRES 89
why not?...they've been absolutely awful in almost every season since '99 including a 1-31 record over two consecutive seasons |

I assume they signed him because we have skinner out and we need some grit. Sounds like he's an AHL lifer but is getting a shot at doing....something. We do honestly need someone to finish checks. May be a player categorized as "rugged" can do that for us? |

Yes, he's a grinder, plays physical, sticks up for his teammates and will fight when called upon. He'll muck it up in the corners and bring the sandpaper every shift. |

Sheary, who hasn't scored since like 1958, on the power play at the end of the game is all I need to know |

From LetsgoAmerks:
"Dalton Smith is known for his physical presence in a game, obviously his fighting abilities, but he’s also adjusted to playing the current speed of professional hockey. He’s the type of player that will open up the ice and has often helped create the most offensive zone time for Amerks forwards. How much of an impact he’ll have with the Buffalo Sabres if any will remain to be seen but at this point he certainly can’t take anything away." |

I'll add that he was a 2nd rd pick (34) of Columbus in the 2010 draft. |

He played a lot on the Amerks on their 4th line with Tyler Randell, another physical player and moved up occasionally to the 3rd line. He's a career minor league who just needs a shot. |

who knows...the big thing i'm getting from letsgoamerks is that he creates space...author wozniak also points out in a piece from a year ago that the amerks were 58-31 with him on the ice, 30-44 without since they signed him til that piece was penned on dec. 28, 2018...how that would translate to the nhl, if that ever happens, is a mystery but he's definitely had an effect in Rochester |
