Why not keep him if that’s all you could get? |
that's an embarrassing return, Dorion should be canned for that deal alone.
if you can't get more for Dylan Demelo than NJ got for Greene (considering that Demelo is twice the player) then you shouldn't be an NHL GM. |

This is why you cant sell seats Melnyk/Dorian. You dont put a quality team on the ice and nobody wants to play for you. |
By the gods, what a blunder. A 3rd for a top-4 RD on a contract that every capped out team in the league could use. |

I'm gunna righteously scream. Literally the only UFA I wanted them to resign they traded for nothing...
If Demelo actually signs in Winnipeg or anywhere else but Ottawa I'm gunna be pissed.
And here I was thinking all year that Dorion knew what he was doing and that the rebuild seemed well thought out and well planned.
24 year old, right shot, defensive defenseman that can play in the top 4 and had amazing chemistry with your franchise' best player... 3rd round pick. |

I wonder, given Hoffman thing, and the clause in the Karlsson trade, if the Senators took less of a return on DeMelo and dealt him out-of-conference/division?
Seems to be this dumb, you'd have to be stubborn (and that's what Melnyk is)... |
only a third? are you kidding me.
guess this ensures one or both of ron/boro back next year |

We were talking the other day about the returns that Dorion had gotten for Hoffman, EK, and Stone and you were arguing that he's actually done pretty good (considering that Melnyk happens to be himself).
This trade just furthers my argument. |

Can’t say I didn’t expect this trash.
Lol were we not just saying in the other blog he would be dealt for something underwhelming?
so disappointing |
Well...I mean we over value him a bit. He can play spot duty in the top 4, but let's not crown him a Marc Methot. He is a 5-6 d man on every other team. Great depth player, but not the end of the world to trade. I think it's an ideal return |

Won’t argue with you on this one......100% pure incompetence by dorion |

Will have to respectfully disagree with this.
He fits comfortably into the top-four of most teams in the NHL, and has proven that he can sit next to a #1 without issue to help balance pairings. His underlying numbers are elite. |

Not sure. Pierre LeBrun just reported that his camp never received a contract extension offer from Ottawa.... |

Reminds me of when the Oilers traded Petry for a 2nd and 5th. I think this deal is gonna come back to bite them in the ass hard. |

I'd be willing to trade you guys a 4th for Ennis, but Dorion would probably insist on a 6th. |
