Good thing we traded Domingue.
Heard McIntyre started his Bing career with a shutout.
I'm not sure how they can really figure out what to do with Schneider if the team is going to be overmatched and the goalies are left getting hung out to dry... |

Looks like the cap is going up significantly. Wouldn't mind tossing some slight overpayments to fill up the lineup, especially on defense.
Also give Gusev whatever he wants. |

This team has so much cap space. If the owners really want to win any time soon they need to be active in free agency. Otherwise it's just the same old lip service. |

The Free agent class is pretty bad this year outside of a few names |

Yeah one of the weakest FA classes is recent years for sure. Not many players i'd even want to sign and put in over just giving our kids a chance |

yea, no one really has my interest. This, plus the 6ers owners being as they are, makes me believe we'll go with our kids next year and take whatever draft pick they land us. I think the following offseason maybe we sign a substantial player or 2. 2021 has a bunch of decent UFAs, but I'd imagine most would stay with their teams. This is why I think we should re-sign Palmieri.. because where else are we getting a 30g scoring RW? nowhere. We have one. He's 29, and should be here for the next 5 years. |

Coyotes next 4 games seem like they could be make or break in deciding their potential playoff hopes, Canucks x2, Flames, and Jets. They likely need to atleast split or do even better to have any chance |

Hard pass on wanting the Coyotes to make any noise. Devs fans should be pulling hard for Vancouver in those two games. Having two top 15 picks and another in the 20s is a must to make this terrible season somewhat worth it. Last night showed they need someone like Drysdale more than ever. If the Coyotes pick ends up being a top 15 and ours is top 5, I'd even say its worth reaching a bit on him with our own pick and then taking a forward with the second 1st rounder. |

Hell yeah! Hopefully Hughes is able to go, but it seems like he'll be out tonight. Pretty close to must win for the Canucks |

Nobody said anything about wanting the Coyotes to make noise, everybody is hoping they miss the playoffs and lose enough to give us a top 10 pick. |

They say that but it’ll probably go up 1.5 mil like always. |

I think I rather just watch Binghamton at this point. It would be fun watching the kids make a playoff run. |

Any thoughts about throwing money at Lehner this offseason to address goaltending? |

Lehner wants long term starting. We can't even guarantee that in the short term. |

I’m on board with adding Lehner. I’d even give him a 3 year deal @ $6M. It’s not my money |

Eh I'd rather throw that at Barrie or Brodie. For their faults, they're NHL defensemen. |

Any cap strap teams this year we can make a move at the draft with? Like the palms and mojo trade |

I wouldnt mind a Brodie, but hard pass on Barrie. We need guys that actually know how to defend off the puck and in the Dzone. If we bring in a D, i'd take a look at Edmundson if he doesnt resign with Carolina. Pietrangelo would need to be a massive overpay to get him here so its probably not worth it. But realistically, there isnt much out there that would move the needle for us, and its not worth throwing out money just to bring guys in. Weak free agent class |

How dare you call this a weak free agent class! John Merrill will be a UFA!! |

This is the right approach. YES, NJ will probably have to overpay people and I'm not advocating for signing anyone BUT we have the smallest payroll in the league. If it cost no assets besides money to get someone here that can help who gives a crap about value?
And then many of these guys can be trade assets at the deadline. I'm not saying this is a good or bad free agency class but to some degree we need to be active in this. |

I'm not sure how much to buy.
I wonder if this year's 1st rd pick will start with us next season. Maybe give them a year to develop and roll with whatever happens next year? Maybe Foote cracks the lineup?
Boqvist-Hischier-Palmieri
Bratt-Zacha-Gusev
Wood-Hughes-Merkley
Foote-Zajac-McLeod
Yes, there's room to sign some UFA action, but you could also argue we don't have that much room and could let the kids play and let next year's pick fall wherever it does. Boqvist should be ready for full-time. This leaves this year's 1st or 2 1sts, Merkley, McLeod, Foote.. not to mention if we bring back Rooney.. Anderson and whatever prospects also in the fold.
Maybe we should hold off on a UFA this year, unless it's a 1yr deal like Simmonds that could get us another pick. But at some point we gotta let the picks play, and next year we should have more guys making the jump. |

Yeah but why Lehner? He won't accept backup duties or even tandem duties (why he was traded out of Chicago). Mac is the starter and it would take an insane drop off for him to lose that privilege. He just needs an NHL caliber backup. Ideally, that can be Schneider, but we shouldn't count on that. |

Yep i agree, we gotta give the kids a chance. Leave the spots open for the kids to take. I dont think McLeod will make the team especially if he's at wing when we still have other guys like Kuokkanen and Bastian who should be in the lineup over him. Plus like you said theres a chance whoever we take with our pick can maybe make the team as well.
If we do anything in free agency i think it'll be to address the defense. There's likely 2 spots open if you say Subban, Severson, and Butcher arent going anywhere, and Smith should be close to a lock to make the roster. Thats the only 4 who are likely guaranteed on the roster. After that I think Carrick could possibly stay. Mueller shouldnt be brought back. None of Claesson, Mermis, or Tennyson should ever be in the top 6. Jacobs has looked okay and i'd rather have him over the previous 3 mentioned, but we dont have anything else in the system right now to jump in. So we have 2 wide open spots for anybody, and i think we could bring in a D to fill it, whether its trade or free agency |
