Love Hog's potential, kid has some serious skill, but we've seen that before. So hopeful he can make an impact at the NHL level though. That kid from Ottawa, forget his name, the one Benning got for Burrows, was super skilled to but couldn't cut the NHL cheese.
Hog has some serious Marty St. Louis legs though, kid is jacked!!

I hope Zack and Rafferty make the team this year as far as prospects . Maybe would be nice to see Bailey and Briesbois get another look.

Love to see them give some kids a chance and not get so caught up in trying to win a Cup before they're ready...if that makes any sense?
Benning's quietly made some excellent major junior & college signings, Rafferty isn't young, he turns 25 in May but the kids got some skillz!! Hopefully they let Tanny walk and go with a kid like Rafferty who's made some great strides in the AHL.
MacEwan is another one, love what he brings and I believe he's got some offensive abilities as well as playing with grit.

Zack went through a dry spell for a bit and thought he was a scoring machine I am glad he straightened out his game and realized he has to use his size . He has talent but his gift is his hitting.

That German kid Marc Michaelis is another good signing, potential is there, although he is smallish. If you keep trying with these kids one day he's gonna get a winner, love that he's doing that.
These kids must feel like they've got a chance to play for the big club or they wouldn't sign. Which is a good and bad thing, they must look at the team as being not that good and spots available, but they signed, so a positive!

Yup players are getting older and they have a good chance to play for a young core.

Some bottom six turnover happening in the next couple years, so ya, gonna be spots open. Sutter, Beagle, Roussel, Eriksson, Motte, Leivo all moving along sooner than later

I would imagine he’s able to sell them on the developmental system too given how many guys have gone from utica ti Canucks at this point. Draft/sign youngsters and developing is definitely his strength

Been awhile since we had a youngish core of players, heading into next season, or early next season as there's some October November birthdays, this is the core of players and their ages.

Motte and Leivo are not big issues . I see Canucks getting rid of 2 of the 4 other ones this year.
I do agree Canucks have a terrible 4 th line . Their third line is starting to shape up.

So you like this core of players but not the guy who is responsible for bringing them in?!
Anyone hear Trump name-drop Bettman. Wrestling is doing empty arena shows.
WWE is an essential service. (google it, its true)
We will get our cup, dollars to doughnuts!
Wasn't the big problem with Dahlen that he was pissed he didn't make the team out of camp and didn't want to be in the AHL? He seemed very self entitled.

You have to be able to look at the bigger picture to understand why he's not the best choice going forward imo. The end result of finishing low is drafting great young players, that's not the difficult part.
I've praised Benning before for various things, obviously not my choice if I had one. The Miller trade turned out really well but I felt is was premature at the time.
Pearson was a good trade but that doesn't exonerate Benning from the initial colossal failure of trading McCann and the 33rd overall pick to acquire a really bad defenseman.
Virtanen was a really bad 6th overall pick, however, he's here and I think he can contribute. So at the end of the day it was a bad choice but they're making the best of it.
I really liked the Toffoli trade, hate losing Madden though, I felt like the guys played well enough that they deserved a shot at the post season.
Boeser was a great pick, Hughes too
Gaudette was a great pick for when they got him but I believe that comes from the scouting staff as the GM doesn't decide late round picks, that's where the scouting department makes their money from.
As I said I really like the major junior and college kids Benning is signing, good value for nothing, it's a no-brainer win-win for the club.
So long story short, there's some good and some bad, but it's more than that, it's the process and other things that I hate. It's not as black and white as you make it sound.
A man in Adelaide bought 10 000 dollars worth of toilet paper and hand sanitiser . He bought it with the intentions of profiteering but E Bay and Amazon removed ads so he was not able to push his wares. He now wants the supermarket to buy it back and they wont.
