Tyler Cameron: Random Blackhawks Spotlight: Eric Daze
See I told you that I wasn't only going to focus on terrible 1st round picks in this series.

This edition features a former 4th rounder from 1993.

Eric Daze is now 44 years old and last played in the NHL in 2005-06.

This one might not be a "random" as Daze was a real good player for a lot of years in Chicago, but I wanted to cover him and it's my blog... so there.

Awesome shot. He would do a quarter back swing and crush it on the ice and score from anywhere. His dad made him a metal puck that he used to practice shooting against the back of his garage. Legendary shooter, underrated of course because of team and injuries

He could pick corners on one foot and off balance. Pure shooter. But with his size people wanted him to be a bone crusher too, and that was not in his DNA. He could have made a bigger difference on a better team. Most guys with a torso that long eventually wind up with back problems. Too bad, he could score when no one else could.

My favorite memory is when Daze and Sullivan both got hat tricks in the same game.

Not mentioned: Daze was acquired with the pick obtained in the Hasek trade.

I'd glad you have agreed to be my apprentice. I will teach you in the ways of the Dark Side (and sarcasm).

There's a classic drive-in theater in McHenry hoping to reopen May 1. Doesn't look like it will be approved. If driving into a spot at the theater and watching a movie without ever getting out of the car is actually detrimental to public health, hockey may not resume until fall of 2021.

We have a drive-in by us and it's remained opened the entire time. They've limited the number of cars per movie and they're taking precautions in the concession stand.

We haven't gone to the drive-in in a couple years, but it's usually an enjoyable experience.

Rockford #IceHogs have signed D.J. Busdeker to a 2-year #AHL contract starting next season. Busdeker tallied 146 points in 235 #OHL games with the Saginaw Spirit

They are pretty cool. Glad yours stayed open. Do the cars give each other the virus? Maybe that's the rationale behind the rule? Gotta be tough sledding for Bettman with the number of governmental jurisdictions that he must deal with.

Another body for the IceHogs. Here's his profile on Elite Prospects: https://www.eliteprospect...ayer/273906/d.j.-busdeker

Don't know this guy but looks like he can play W and D?

He's 5'10 and 180 lbs.

I loved this guy ,remember him scoring his 1st goal . I am sure it was Savard that gave him the puck after . He made the stupid trade of Hasek a little more bearable

My uncle (who got me interested in hockey) and my grandfather used to call him "Dizzy Daze" because he would never hit anyone, and try to go around contact. Every time that I pointed out how skilled he was, they laughed at me and said he'd never amount to anything. Only thing that really slowed him down was the back injury.

Saad reminds me of Daze. A really good player that you always thought would produce a little bit better results.

Instead of exploring ways to finish this season, maybe the NHL should be looking at neutral sight venues for next season.

I finally heard a government official (I forget which one) say what I’ve been saying all along. The focus should be on if something is safe, not on if it’s essential. Hopefully that kind of logic spreads.

Preliminary results out of New York show 14% of people have antibodies (random test of 3,000 people who were not quarantined and were at stores? Not sure the who exactly was tested).

Interesting.....

I've seen no enforcement of any safety measures in Chicago. Construction is an essential business. I see road construction crews (including City employees), high rise crews, and residential crews not adhering to social distancing and not wearing masks. Just life as usual.
