I'm curious how you think Melnichuk compares to Korenar, Shortridge and Emond? Do you think any of those guys will likely become goalie of the future for the Sharks?
At one time Sharks seemed to be okayish at drafting/developing goalies, but it's been a long time.

This is what I think the depth chart probably looks like:
1. Melnichuk
2. Korenar
3. Emond
4. Shortridge
Korenar had a good rookie season in the AHL but struggled this year. He's still very young but next year will be huge for him to bounce back. I think other than Melnichuk, he's the most likely to actually end up in the NHL down the road.
I don't think Shortridge has much of a chance. He's 25 years old and had pretty brutal numbers in the AHL. Emond is a bit harder to judge because it's difficult to predict how a goalie will transition from junior to professional.
The Sharks also still have the rights to Mike Robinson in the NCAA (though I probably wouldn't be too hopeful there either). Someone else to maybe keep an eye on is Zachary Sawchenko. He's only 22 years old and had much better stats with the Barracuda this season than both Korenar and Shortridge and also had a .930 SV% in the ECHL.
