Trade ya Ghost for Tippett

Obviously other pieces would need to be involved. I’m sure you don’t just want another salary coming your way.

Hey, hey, I’m not askin for Borgstrom. Gimme the raw player. I’m being reasonable...

You want a defenseman, right? Well, Gostisbehere is a native Florida guy at a decent cap hit who can provide good offense in a system which turns him loose. He’s done it before, and he’s still just in his mid 20s. Struggled with the last coach’s scheme, but plenty of top 4 upside if you can use him properly. Always a threat from the slot.

We have a logjam at defense, and a decent pipeline for it to boot, so hey, I’ll roll the dice on that kid. Could use a little cap relief, and someone’s gonna get poached by Seattle, so I’d rather get something over nothing if (most likely) one of our blue-liners is stolen away.

Tippett would have time to mature and solidify his defense in Philly because he wouldn’t be pressured to start so soon. Farabee just started, and Frost is on deck among others. Getting thrown into the mix before being ready can be a problem for many kids.

Whaddaya say?

No, thanks. FL already has plenty of Dmen like Ghost.

Will be interesting to see which of Dadonov and Hoffman they re-sign. I'm still torn over which one I'd prefer to stay, if only one can be kept as the cap seems to indicate. Center is also a big question mark, do they re-sign Haula? It sucks they only got to see him play a few games here, who knows what happens there.
Don't think they'll be adding any D by way of UFA unless they first trade Matheson, or somehow move Yandle.

Hey Rats -

I would love for them to be able to move Yandle, but I don't see it happening.

It's a tough one with Dadonov and Hoffman...personally, I'd rather see them keep Dadonov around. Sure, he doesn't have the flash/flare ability of Hoffman (when he's "on"), but I think he's a more all-around player and works better for this team. Daddy works very hard and goes to the front of the net and gritty areas to dig out pucks and setup his more skilled line mates - and he has skill himself. Hoffman is more of a floater to me - kind of gliding around picking spots looking for one-timers, and opportunities to rush, etc. He doesn't really get his hands dirty the way Dadonov does. Just my opinion.

I think they'll resign Haula.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass for now

Ghost had that tremendous season (I think his rookie?), but has kind of reverted to the same look as a lot of the current Panthers defensemen. But thats based on limited knowledge I have of him, so I'd defer to you.

Do you think he'd do better in a Q style defensive scheme?

Man...Tippett. I wonder when he'll get the nod for some more time. I know he has had some injuries he's working through, but I'm curious to see what the plan is, you know? Will he be a "guy" on the Cats roster, or packaged into a trade for something?

I know that second part sounds crazy, especially since so many FLA fans have him pegged as the next big thing, but I'm just wondering what the front office is thinking.

Lol, this is exactly how I felt early this season, but Hoff has shown he has more than just that shot to his game this season. But, still, Dads has shown that all around effort and tenacity since his signing. I think when it comes down to it, FL leans towards Dadonov. It seems Tippett and his shooting ability would be more suited to take Hoff's spot, at least on the PP, if FL thinks he's ready to make the jump to the Bigs.
Unless Dads takes a big discount so he can keep running with Barky & Huberdeau, and Hoff does the same so he can continue to play in a non-fishbowl market where there's been no drama 😏.
I also think they'll try to re-sign Haula. Otherwise they're relying on Borgstrom to be an NHL player next season, unless they make another trade. Hopefully Borgstrom shows something if he gets a chance to play in whichever playoff system the NHL decides on. Right now, who is 2C next season is of more concern to me than the D is.

I'd feel more comfortable with Haula than rolling the dice with Borgy right now.

Can't wait to see what they end up doing this summer. But, really curious if the season is going to restart.
