6yrs @ $5.5m per
anything more is NOT worth it - Hell_Bent
While I'd love to see that, I don't think the Isles are getting that deal. I could see that price on a four-year deal but I think a six-year deal is definitely past the $6M mark. |

How about we negotiate and take 5.5 for 5 years.

He is one of if not our best defenseman. If we get him signed for 5.5 for 6yrs that’s a great deal for us. Not sure how you can say anything more than that is not worth it? Don’t agree but I hope you’re right I would be pretty happy with 5.5. |

There's no pictures of him in Jets sheets so he can go back home to Manitoba, right?
I kid, but I can see 7 years @ 6.5 |

This may be unpopular opinion but just bc he's our best defenseman, doesnt mean he needs to be paid as a top dman. I like Pulock a lot, but in a salary cap era, have to be sure on who to pay at what price.
Its just my opinion
to clarify a bit more, I just dont think Pulock would be a top 2 dman on another team in NHL, more like a 3-4 on most |

I’m all about paying these guys as little as possible but I disagree with how he compares to other players around the NHL. I also don’t agree where he would rank on other teams on the NHL. There are quite a few teams he would be their best defenseman. Are there better D men in the league? Yeah there are but with that said young, mobile, defenseman with his shot (go ahead 7 insert comment here), that are good defensively aren’t a dime a dozen. He may get as much as 7 imo. I hope he doesn’t but I think 5.5 is a steal for him. Just my opinion. |

Sure, but top defenseman in this league that have signed deals in the last 1-3 years are making pretty close to, or over, $9M-$10M in nearly every case. I don't think there's a single person that believes that Pulock is going to even sniff that much money |

7 is busy organizing Uber drivers, so he asked me to remind you that it's 105 MPH......and never on goal. |

But Pulock is an RFA, not a UFA. Even though he's arbitration-eligible, he's got a whole lot less leverage than those guys signing for $9-10 MM, right? Or were those guys you're referring to RFAs too? |

He referred to "being paid like a top defenseman", so I'm not necessarily too concerned with the expiry status of their contract, in regards to this particular conversation.
But if we want to bring that into the mix, Seth Jones would be a good measuring stick. He is both a top defenseman in the league and signed his current deal when he was an RFA in the summer of 2016. Four years ago he signed a deal with a $5.4M cap hit, so I don't think $5.5M should be the "absolute max" that Pulock should be making. I don't think that number is too far off what he'll actually get, but I also don't think that it should be anyone's hard-ceiling as to what he's worth. |
