Vaguely remember Niinimaa getting up on stage with Metallica in the parking lot of the First Union Center. Can't remember why they were playing there. |

Metallica did a free show. Janne, a healthy scratch that night, had permission to go. That's all there was to it. There is a whole urban mythology about it.
Janne is a huge metal fan in general and Metallica in particular. Nowadays, he is involved in concert promotion and venue development in Finland.

Can't say I'm a big fan of how the NHL is doing this, but I understand the motivation.

Spoke too soon. I didn’t know the bracket was public knowledge. Here’s the issue. I don’t see how many games for example Pens-Habs play before we can finally play. |

Since the top-4 seeds will play 3 games, I'd expect the play-in rounds to be best-of-3 as well...but that would make too much sense. Also not sure if they would reseed, but again, that would make too much sense.
No matter what happens, one thing is certain: 30 team fanbases will say the Stanley Cup champ this season is a joke/fraud. One fanbase won't care what the others say. |

From what I’ve heard, the 5 thru 12 play in round will be best of 3. During that time, the top 4 seeds will play each other once so each will play 3 games.
Apparently the top 4 seeds will be playing for seeding purposes. What I don’t know is if the results of those 3 games will be added to the current standings or will the top four seeds be based solely on the results of those 3 games.
Current point totals: PTS/GP
Boston 100/70
TB 92/70
WAS 90/69
Philly 89/69
If regular season points count, than Boston has nothing to play for as they would have 1st place clinched. The other 3 seeds could still change in multiple ways. If the 3 seeding games are the only ones that count (which I would hate) then what each team has accomplished in the regular season goes out the window, and Boston in particular really gets the shaft.
Should be interesting.

What they've accomplished in the regular season is an automatic playoff berth. Also, I won't shed a tear if Boston gets the shaft. They can dry their tears on Super Bowl and World Series rings. |

Any more word on the cockamamie idea of a June draft before this poop show gets started? Does that get voted on as well or is that up to Bettman alone? |

I never understood why so many people had a problem with that. Even if he was playing that night its not like he was doing Jager bombs and hitting the bong.

Exactly.
Much ado about nothing courtesy of the media. Sadly, this is much more rampant today. |

I still think that this is absolutely ridiculous. Do it in August/September. Gary just wants the ad revenue as soon as possible. At this point if they do it in June I can’t believe there is going to be any sort of a combine, right? |

At this point any format will have flaws. A question or problem I have is teams playing meaningful games before others. Will this be an advantage. And round robin random play for teams with a bi. What happens when Marchand is March an dab and injures someone prior to playoffs starting or something similar. Just weird to me.
Agree. This is all about money. Nothing else. |

Were you every under the delusion that ANY professional sport is NOT about the money?
Do you have a job that you go to and work for free, or do you expect to be paid?

not much. He thinks it'll take players two weeks to get their legs back. He likes Breaking Bad. |

I started typing a long post but deleted it. I don't even know where to begin with this clown of a commissioner the league has.
Probably jumps over dollars to pick up nickels. |

The same thing that always happens when Marchand intentionally injures someone. |
