They need the high draft pick more than the experience of one playoff round, especially since there would be nothing "normal" about those games. If this happens, the first round will be very different from normal playoff games due to such a long layoff. Another question for JC/others--do you think everyone on the team buys into it and gives 100%? Would be surprised if that happens. |

Do the current seedings really mean much right now? I doubt the teams are going to be playing at the level they were playing at. Couple of thoughts - Quality of ice may not be as good this late in the year. The other issue is, will hockey really be the players #1 focus, or will health be? |

I really think this team needs time and experience for the forwards.
The back end have some nice pieces, what sucks is they will need even more experience than the forwards
Hope Ian is really as good as everyone thinks he is.

“I don't think Mitchell would be enough of an impact to include him especially when you have guys like Beaudin and Carlsson who deserve a shot ahead of him at this point in the season in my opinion.”
Not sure I agree with this last sentence. Ice the best lineup possible. If (big IF) that includes Mitchell, so be it. The best players DESERVE to play, regardless of any perceived organizational seniority. |

Speaking of stuff happening...
The Hawks have signed forward Matej Chalupa to an entry level deal. Chalupa (great name) is a former teammate of Dominik Kubalik. |

Good stuff, TC. I'm on the win wagon. I think playoff experience is good for the young guys, but the vets also. I'm a fan, I can't root for them to lose & I can't be glad at their demise (like some people). I know people would rather have the higher pick, that's totally fine, I respect that & understand that. I think some rookies will stand out amongst the rest.
How many playoff games does Mitchell need to play to burn up a year of his contract? If he plays well, helps win, proves he belongs ... I can be fine with it, but right off bat, I'm not happy to burn a year. |

I say go for it, who knows what is going to happen "next season". Will the NHL still have to play without fans in 2 "pods". What is going to happen with salary cap and other financial situations? If both NBA and NHL play condensed schedules, arena scheduling will be a nightmare. I think the days for example that the NBA plays in the afternoon, and the NHL at night, they wouldn't be able to sanitize the facility (seats, locker rooms, laundry), etc., plus entrance to a game is going to take longer (temperature checks for everyone at a minimum). A lot that needs to be settled besides getting to a Stanley Cup winner this year under special circumstances.
So I believe you try and win as many games this year, because who knows how the game (and the team) will look next year. |

6'2" and 192 pounds, left-handed shot.
7 goals and 17 assists in 50 games this past season, but was fourth among the league's under-22 players with 0.48 ppg. |

I tried some sarcasm & a narrative ... both went undetected. I'm holding judgment, until I see him play. (First shift is all he's getting though). Red Font |

Several thoughts came to mind when I thought about the value of the 2020 Chicago draft pick.. Certainly if the team was better then the decision is going to weigh more on actually winning against both Edmonton and the next foe. As early as next season conceivably the rapid imporovement of key youngsters could bring optimism to the fan base. Not only in the form of winning a couple of rounds, but witnessing tremendous young talent blossoming . Namely, that is Dach and Boqvist .
One very important consideration might help sway fans whom are open to voting either way in the poll.
Is 2020 draft the last draft for.the next few years where we draft hopefully 9th or earlier? Because there are enough prospects this time through #8 to be quite enthusiastic to grab. And seeing how I would take a forward, there are enough good forwards not to miss out on......you don't know clearly yet how the next two drafts will shake out, but you can feel good to add one of the 2020 crop alongside Toews and company.
Another thought which cannot be ignorered is, aren't the odds in favor for Stan to snag a forward? He has already enough highly touted dmen and a few slotted for bottom pairing. I would love to see a forward with grit whom plays on top two lines |

He'd have failed to a high extent to get a crack at Makar, and McAvoy, the nHL club he oversees would have to have been much worse in both years as the Blackhawks draft slots were #26 in 2017 and and #22 in 2016, and these tow were taken 4th and 14th overall... |

I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL allows ads on their uniforms in an effort to increase revenue. Add Taco Bell to the list for the Hawks along with long time ad sponsors like Chevrolet, BMO/Harris Bank and Binny's.
