Jeremy Laura: The second group who may head (or stay) overseas

Great read. I like the idea of some of the young guys going over to stay in shape and prepared for next year.

Any chance we can send Frans and Abby ? Maybe they’ll like it and decide to stay, leaving us Cap space for real forwards.

I do think Frans will get some reps in overseas. Abby, I don’t know. He’s got a family unit here, I think he’ll try and get some reps with MSU or U of M. Many of the Detroit writers firmly believe he’ll be waived to Grand Rapids. Either way he’s making 4.25M and I don’t think he’d risk that. Will be interesting to see if there are compliance buyouts. I think one of those two will be a candidate

I wouldn’t mine seeing one, or both getting bought out. Abby has a role as a 3rd liner, maybe a net front on the 2nd PP but we ruined that but letting him play w / Pav and Z.

Was watching some old YouTube videos of those 2 and I can’t believe how many goals he got just standing in front of the net. Deflections, hitting his body or feet but none resembled a 4.25 mil player.

The Frans deal was always going to be bad just based on when we signed him. The team was declining and he was close to that age where they tend to fall off. Regardless, if we can get out from those, I’d like to think Stevie would spend it on the caliber of player we need.

I’d love to see a few of the young D travel over and see if they can progress. There would be nothing worse than taking a step back due to the layoff, or even worse, injury.

Hope we get some entertainment during a long off season and best of luck to the team during the draft. AL could make this rebuild move a few years ahead if he turns out as projected.

Shane Doan Gave Abby a rough ride once. He was chirping and Abby said,” I’ve got 20 goals”. Doan told him he should have 30 playing with Pav and Z. So funny

I thought it was when Abby had 8 goals while playing with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Doan told him that "he should be ashamed of himself."

I used to like Doan until he turned into a whiny little cheap shotting crybaby in those playoff series' vs the Wings. I didn't like how he never wanted to leave the Coyotes to compete for a Cup. But that's just me. Doan would've definitely been an upgrade over Dear Abby!

I was really bothered too. Ray Borque, Luc Robitaille, Hasek, they had to take a chance to win. Loyalty is an awesome trait, but I feel like he cheated himself out of that experience
