Thanks Carol,
I thought iMac's most interesting comment was that he sees the Canucks keeping Stetcher over Virtanen as they can get an asset for Jake.
Glad to see him turn a corner but I agree, seems like a likely guy to move.
I don't like the mutual termination scenario as I think it breaks the spirit of the cap but it would certainly help the canucks get out of Eriksson.
If escrow goes way up, which I doubt occurs, it would open the door to more of those types of deals. |

As you mentioned if Vegas and Chicago are the hub cities then there would be a team playing in its own home.
Toronto and Vegas will be the teams . I heave heard it for a while now. Having two teams out West would make the East unhappy because of the time zones.
As I mentioned in the other blog the NHL has to come up with a solution very soon Free Agency begins in 17 days. |

Not sure what the spirit of the cap is, please explain. |

I really think Jake will be traded. Also as Imac mentioned in his thingy Stecher probably wont receive an offer from Canucks because then he can file for arbitration.

They will not be allowing any teams to have home ice, so if Vegas and Toronto are host cities then those 2 teams will be playing at the other location.
Also, free agency starts when the season/playoffs are officially over. |

I agree about the home team problem with Chicago/Vegas, but not about the time zones.
Without fans, it makes no difference what the actual time is that the games are played. In the big preliminary tournament, they can start at 9 a.m. PT - noon Eastern - if they want to get in three games a day. Or earlier.
But as you mention, I think there's still a desire to be in the East, even though "because that's where more people are" should be a deterrent now, not an advantage.

Perhaps not a great term but it feels like cap circumvention to me.
If teams can arrange to mutually terminate contracts they don't like, I get that players need to agree but the team benefits where the player only loses, what's stopping teams from building in mutually terminations into the contract. It's almost like the front loading contracts which were banned and punished after the fact. |

I think with the majority of the viewership in the East they will probably want to watch their Leafs at 4 pm . I guess it won't really matter I just think the Ranger fans wouldn't be thrilled seeing their team start at 11 PM EST . You can only have one game in prime time . Not a huge problem. |

I believe it says on the Contract that they are signed until July 1 . I know Loui's contract says he gets paid his bonus July 1 according to CapFriendly. |

It is cap circumvention, as are compliance buyouts, which the league has approved of once already.
Never have I been a fan of the cap and the reasons behind it, in a so-called society of capitalism, this cap system is rather socialistic. |

I know what it states on the contract, it will state an expiry date of June 30, what I posted in the last blog was, both sides have already discussed this 24 team thingy, therefore, if it wasn't actually talked about, then tacit approval has been given to move forward, which would include contracts being a part of it.
The signing bonuses etc, due July 1st would be a different discussion entirely. |

He is a situation where Reid Boucher and Sven Baertschi have been offered contracts to play over in the KHL . They are currently employed by NHL teams and can not sign contracts if they were to sign before July 1. The KHL may start in October and the NHL now starting in August could run for two months . So these players can not sign with a new team until the NHL finishes? I don't think so. They may lose a job offer because of a new situation? |

First off, Baertschi is still under contract for another season, but I get your point.
Secondly, the NHL Players Association, represent the players in the NHL, not the KHL or any other league, so if the player doesn't like the fact that they might get a chance to win a Stanley Cup, I guess they could ask to have their contract, mutually terminated. |

Iām not sure why Lui would walk away from $5m to earn $1m (or less) to āgo out on his termsā.
I agree with Belchy, seems like cap circumvention, Iām pretty sure the league would have something to say about it. |

A player like Stecher who will probably get a one million dollar offer next year could get in fact a 2 mil offer from KHL. Players like Cici . Every team has those players so it is something that needs a definite answer to in the next two weeks. |

What needs an answer?
The league and players have already agreed on a 24 team thingy and players have been told to be ready to start a training camp in July. |

I think it is fine . After July 1 Colorado talks to Pietrangelo and and offer him a 9 mil contract and they meet in the second round . Perfectly normal |
