Carol Schram: Vancouver's hub city chances improving as NHL restart challenges loom
After Friday's news that the Tampa Bay Lightning had to shut down their practice facility following a number of positive Covid-19 tests and other positive tests in other jurisdictions, the road to returning to play looks tougher than ever for the NHL. But low case numbers in Vancouver and Edmonton could make them appealing hub cities. |

Hey @NHL
F*ck right off if you think Canada should wave our 14 day quarantines for new arrivals, just to play a goddamn game.
Sincerely

Thanks Carol. Watched Hip Hop evolution a few weeks ago on Netflix. It's a very good recommendation for those into that genre.

The two Vs — Vancouver/Vegas, maybe. Next two weeks: hub selections, lottery, player vote on protocols/CBA framework. All while we monitor testing results. |

Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre posts that the Vancouver Canucks may attempt to go down a similar path with winger Loui Eriksson that the Buffalo Sabres did with Zach Bogosian when they sent him to the AHL. Instead of the AHL, Bogosian opted for a contract termination with hopes he could resume his NHL career elsewhere. He wound up in Tampa Bay.
Once Eriksson’s upcoming $3 million signing bonus is paid, he is due just $5 million in salary over the final two years of the deal which might be enough to walk away from. He may not make $2.5 million per season on a two-year deal with another team, but he might get close with a better opportunity to play.
In other Canucks news, Rick Dhaliwal reports that Canucks forward Michael Ferland is back skating. Any potential return is still step-by-step. |

The latest rumor is the NHL will be figuring out the cap at Bishops University
. They may even call in the Pope to help someone with the Cardinal numbers seeing that someone is not to good with math. |

This from todays Guardian newspaper. "A period that began with Florida’s daily record of new cases below 1,700 saw eight consecutive days above that figure, five of them topping 2,000 and both Thursday and Friday seeing the highest numbers of all: 3,207 and 3,822 cases, respectively, eclipsing the previous recorded high by more than 35%." 90,000 cases, 3,000 dead. 1 in 30 mortality rate. Thats what happens when you "give it a try". To extrapolate those numbers a little further, in a state of 21 million people , statistically 1 in every 237 Floridians now have the disease. 1 in every 8,000 has died. Bad as that is, they are under-reporting.In the greater USA to date, 1 in every 2,800 living souls has died of Covid. And this figure is only headed in one direction. This is Covid reality. |

The wife said thank you . She was heart broken by the tomatoes - VANTEL No problem. I've felt that heartbreak as well. There's still plenty of summer for them to recover if the damage isn't too great.
