Would Ek know his name? If he didn't ask his friend, Kevin? (Allen) |

Still don’t like Hall #1, very overrated.
Gems at 11-15?
Then why so far down this goofy list? |

You have some good two way players in your top 6, (but to my limited knowledge), Horvat is a defensive liability isn't he. Why not have Toffoli and Pearson flank Horvat! Both are (or at least used to be when with Carter a few years ago) stellar 2 way players. I remember when Briere centered Pomminville and Hecht, two very good defensive forwards, and that line was pretty good on both ends of the ice.
EDIT: Briere was an atrocious player on his end of the ice otherwise, always lolly gagging near the blue line for that breakaway pass. |

Well, that definitely supports your preface of limited knowledge Respect to you for conceding that beforehand, but Horvat is definitely not a defensive liability. He's at least a good two-way player and, during his best seasons, is a damn good one. He's a player I respect and enjoy as a fan of a rival team. |

Fair enough
I had general impressions of a high skill player who was weak in his own end (I stand corrected then) and then I looked up how Toffoli was doing based on what Ek wrote and found this for Horvat
(how come a good 2 way player has never finished a single season on the + side of the ledger)?
68 13 12 25 -8
82 16 24 40 -30
81 20 32 52 -7
64 22 22 44 -1
82 27 34 61 -4
69 22 31 53 -15

+/- is mostly meaningless and tends to be more relative to the team you're playing on than saying anything about you as a player.
There are so many events that go into a goal against that you can do everything perfectly and end up a - if your teammates suck. |

I know, I know.
But over the long run, good defensive players should have that even out, unless they are on a bad defensive team.
With some digging:
This year, Pettersson is +16, Miller is +11, Broeser is +, Tanner is +, Pearson is marginal -, Horvat is the very bottom and by far the worst in the top 6.
BUT, his relative Corsi and Fenwicks are both + recently, though the absolutes of the two are both below 0.5 |

This has been bugging me with all these "experts" saying Vegas is blowing up with COVID. Here are some numbers...
Nevada: 13,300 now... 10,000 2 weeks ago... 7,500 a month ago
Ontario: 35,000 now... 32,000 2 weeks ago... 27,000 a month ago
Out of 3 million people living in Nevada, those numbers are very, VERY low. There is no "blow up". |

Ontario has about 5 times as many people as NV. They have almost identical increases in #s in the past fortnight.
This means the rates of infection are about 5 times as high in NV in the last 2 weeks. |
