Shalunov is a prospect that's tough to get excited about. He's not an electrifying talent. There are other 3rd line prospects I'd prefer make the team over him even if as an industrious grinder.
I'd argue countryman Altybarmakyan will be more fun to watch and bring more to the ice to be an impact player. Plus, he already has his ELC and is 5 years younger.
Then again, he is a lottery ticket like the rest of them so see if he has any value before moving on. |

That's pretty crazy but it looks like they reacted quickly.
Completely unrelated organizations but Misericordia in Chicago does outstanding work in case anyone is looking for a new favorite charity.
Hockey can make some serious headway by being the only game in town. Hopefully it doesn't backfire and that everyone stays safe.
About three weeks. Pretty wild. |

Most of you likely saw news that Seabrook is on the ice today at voluntary practice. He and de Haan got playoff beards going already.
Quenneville is out there, too, in terms of a likely Black Ace. |

If attendance at the voluntary practices are an indication, so far the Black Aces seem to be:
Forwards: Entwistle, Hagel, Kurashev, Quenneville, Sikura
Defensemen: Beaudin, Carlsson, Gilbert, Regula
Goalies: Delia, Lankinen, Tomkins
With Caggiula, de Haan, and Seabrook seemingly ready to go for the playoffs, all spots are taken by the prospects mentioned above and the players already on the active roster (max of 28 skaters + unlimited goalies).
If Seabrook isn't ready, I see the 28th spot going to either Fortin or Krys. |

Davidson, Eaton and Stewart: it doesn't seem like these guys are getting a promotion as opposed to just a title change - aren't they going to be doing the same jobs that they have been doing? |

Neither Fortin nor Krys have been at these practices so makes me think they didn't make the cut.
If attendance at these practices signifies who the Black Aces are, it is interesting that Regula made it over Krys. |

Ian Mitchell – What is going on with these deals? It now looks like Mitchell will be able to burn off a year of his contract, yet he's not allowed to play in the 2019-20 post-season?
What?! How does that make any sense?
This is less than ideal for the Blackhawks who will be tight against the cap for the next few years. Mitchell's entry-level deal will now end the same summer as Kirby Dach and Adam Boqvist. Woof.
Teams were told not to sign any contracts that start during this season right when the pandemic caused the pause. Some teams (and fans) complained that not being able to burn a year of a prospects contract was harming their ability to sign prospects; see KK in MN. The NHL called their bluff. Teams don't have to burn a year of a players contract on this off-season, they are just given the option to. Can't really complain about the league if your team chooses to burn a year now. |

You don't read here much do you?
In all seriousness, I believe that TC was more questioning why the Hawks would make that move as opposed to complaining about the league.
… or TC can just speak for himself. That works too. |

I see your team is doing the buffalo sabres hatchet job to your hockey ops...looks like your organization is heading back to the dark ages. Oh well.... |

Not conclusive yet in my mind Regula over Kyrs. I bet brass is enamored or intrigued by his 27 goals. And that he is not a train wreck defensively.
But straight from junior.to even remote possibility plays NHL..regular!!!
Regula close to NHL ready - only to judge by how his name is spelled; regula.only one letter short to being regular |

I'm curious as to how the NHL and PA has handled the contracts of the FAs. Technically those have expired end of June. Obviously players are still with their 2019 team.
Regarding Seabrook, I know I was as critical of his play as everyone else in the past couple of years but, it's good to see that he's on the ice and may possibly play in the tournament.
Hopefully his body is repaired enough that he doesn't have to lay himself out when he's turnstyled by a puck carrier. |

I believe the league and the NHLPA have agreed to extend player contracts through the end of October.

This.
No problem with the league, I really wish this wasn't a trend the Blackhawks went down.
If Mitchell gets to burn a year off his deal, get paid, and not step foot on the ice, it's a fail by the Hawks. However, I can't fully fault them for him not playing at all as the circumstances are the furthest from normal this year. |
