Yes, but this secondary exposure could have been a dude's neighbor, brother, grocery store, etc. Once they go into the "bubble" where the only people you see are the other people in the "bubble" the chances go down in orders of magnitude.

I'm not saying it's fool-proof, and I think it's irresponsible to restart at this point...I just don't think the chances of getting it once in the Hub cities will be anywhere near as high as in the general population.

However, the players will be isolated to their rooms while not at the rink and will likely have 2 or 3 layers of separation from people who go home very night.

Again, not saying it's infallible, just much less likely.

It's basically 8 young guys plus Hornqvist missing. It was reported on the 1st Hornqvist would be in quarantine for 2 weeks so that might not even be up. I'm guessing those young guys all went to dinner or something together where someone tested positive and hopefully they didn't catch it.

I mean, that really doesn't do much. Just because it's not direct contact doesn't mean they can't spread it. Look, there's no way to guarantee 100% protection, but the more people coming and going doesn't help to reduce those chances.

The more layers of insulation, the better. The less people you talk to/interact with, the better.

A cruise is a short-term self-contained colony. You can't do that in a city. All they can do is best a proactive as possible. Is it guaranteed to work? Far from it. Is it wise? I don't think so. Is it feasible? To a certain degree, I think it is.

Yesterday we had 77 new cases in all of Alberta. Compared to the number of daily cases in the US that is a wow factor. Being in Calgary I can say that we have opened up(phase 2 right now) & when I drive around there is a lot of traffic, stores have more people & restaurants are getting customers but not to the extent before due to restrictions. I just wish more people would wear the masks. But I would say if we can keep this up the Hub out here should be pretty low risk but once players go in this Hub, they cant leave.Security to enforce this must be huge & I think the NHL know this.

It's certainly feasible to do what you're talking about, but we're just talking probabilities. It can obviously work, but the more outside factors that intervene the more the chances of spreading the virus go up.

Anyone know what will be going on with the refs for these games/bubble cities?

I get the theory in the bubble cities... get everyone who is healthy in... recheck more, than you have super isolated areas with fully healthy people so they can play 'normally'... but I have not heard anything about refs for the NHL or the NBA in these scenarios. Shouldn't that also be accounted for as well?

I'm guessing you mean the life of the virus as a whole not the life of it in someone...if so...

Yeah, I mean if your point of view is that the quicker everyone gets this, the quicker it will be gone, then you're probably right haha. To me its do one or the other. Let everyone get exposed or try and completely shut it off and minimize the spread of it. Minimizing the spread of it will save lives, much more lives than getting everyone exposed. We did the later up here and so far its paying dividends. Problem is, our borders are shut off from each other, when they open the virus will come back in and as we all should know by now it doesnt take much for a spike to get going.

So I asked this question on the Flyers board, but I'll ask it here as well:
