You and me both! I can only watch the last 13 years of Stanley Cup Champs so many times.... |

Byfield or Stuetzle will be a great consolation pick at #2. |

Watching those old Red Wings playoff games, is it just me or did Bob Cole always sound depressed when the Wings scored? He'd cream his pants each time the other team scored. I guess it evens out for Ken Kal's Homer goal calls. |

I don't know if Yzerman has an advantage over other teams or not. I certainly trust him and Pat Verbeek at the draft table over Holland and Tyler Wright. Draper being there still worries me. He's the one who pushed hard for Cholowski.
But he did also push hard for Bertuzzi. Just please. With all due respect to Draper, don't listen to his opinion when it comes to evaluating defensemen. I'm still waiting to see Cholowski's "Elite hockey IQ." |

Yzerman needs to talk offer sheet with Sergachev camp once he’s allowed. |

He'd just be doing Tampa a favour. Negotiating Sergachev's contract for Brisebois. Like Bergevin did for Dime store Donny Waddell (Aho) in Carolina. He'd match any offer and deal Johnson or whoever after.
My guess is that Brisebois clears some cap space first and then signs Sergachev long term. Plus Sergachev will take less to stay in Tampa because of the no state tax Tampa discount. Yzerman can't offer this in Detroit. And Sergachev is on a stacked Lightning team. I doubt he wants to leave. Especially for a door mat like Detroit. |

That’s why I like Doc E. He is pumped when either team scores |

I’ll say this for Yzerman, he does a ton of his own scouting. Way more than I expected. I’d love to have Lidstrom do some D man scouting for us... |

Holy crap, you may be the king of nicknames G. Bergevin apparently has eyes on Barzal. Lou isn’t one who gets pushed around easily. That will be interesting |

Yzerman is too smart to let a few extra games in Europe adjust the rankings too much. Its possible that more naive evaluators put too much emphasis on this leading to a run on Europeans. The real sleepers may end up being CHL guys. What's he going to say? We're not going to watch? Of course every evaluator will watch the European kids, but only the smart ones will be careful not to let it bias years of prior research. |

He had a great quote about that. Depending on who’s playing, who’s not playing, who’s playing well, that can just complicate your decision-making process even more.”
I think the advantage will be anyone who jumped forward in development. A kid grow 2 inches or puts on 15 lbs, those are the eye openers. The combine helps solidify certain candidates (and the world jr). Without those this month of playing will get a lot more attention.

Right?!! It’s weird, but impressive that he can get an organization on the same page. Apparently he has a 3 ring rule for office phones. He trains everyone to quickly answer. Little details |

I agree, sir. Even back in the old Fox coverage days, Doc was one of the better guys. Glad he still covers the main games on NBC. |

He’s such a nice guy. Before games he goes and talks to everyone. Found out an organist had cancer and went and checked on them. Just a genuine human being. |

Welcome back K - Jeremy Laura
I think this only stands to hurt players who have a tough showing of things as they come back. CHL kids are growing too and on the ice by now so probably not losing too much development. I wonder, for instance, what Byfield is going to look like coming out of this as a younger kid in the draft. |

I think the “least” affected players are going to be the first round. They may shift around (projected 5th and goes 10th etc). The challenge is for the kids who wanted to use the showcase and combine to show progress. They aren’t going to have that opportunity, and if they’re committed to a university that cancels sports, they’re going to have lost up to a year and a half of playing and development. Seniors didn’t get a chance to play for a championship (lots of scouts at those too). The European leagues that are playing will have all eyes.
A big part of what pushed Mo Seider up was his one on one interviews. Those sit downs with the staff make huge impressions. For players who were counting on making an impression (again, later picks) they are going to have a tough climb |
