His lack of discipline is maddening because he shows a complete lack of awareness. After getting suspended for his linesman incident, he should have known that he wasn't going to get any breaks from officials this year. But he kept taking penalties, many of them marginal but he got called and sometimes added Misconducts or Unsportsman-likes when he mouthed off..which was often. If he would just mature he could be a far better player...
He has offensive skills, a good shot, speed, and hits hard...He can be a very good power forward if he can get rid of the chip on his shoulder which has hampered him his entire career.
His production does not make up for his penalties.
None of this happens in a vacuum.
The timing of his penalties is what must be taken into account...often they are momentum killers, or worse, momentum changers, in the wrong direction.
