I think the biggest loss to the Jets this year which has become very apparent now in that we are in the playoffs/elimination round. We really miss a guy like Buff. Calgary is operating with very little fear of repercussions. We need more brawn on this team as Adam Lowry just isn't enough.
The other obvious hole is one we have talked about a lot on here. A very good #2 center. The loss of Scheif has once again demonstrated this need. Of course, Little was a decent center but not of the class of a quality #2. When the Jets hit the draft this year it should be their first pick in round #1 (if they don't win the lottery for Lafreniere) . Lots of good talent in this draft.
The injury bug continues. I don't think the Jets would have gotten much farther anyways now that they are so beaten up. Hoping for some good luck at the draft.

I think these playoffs will serve as an eye opener of how thin our talent has gotten since our 2018 run. Top that with probability that we will lose either Copp, Lowry or Roslovic (all 3 drafted as centers) to Seattle expansion with only David Gustaffson and Jansen Harkens (Moose centers) as B grade prospects looking to move up. Harkens himself is exposed in the expansion draft. The Jets have a serious depth issue to look at.
As much as I like Sami Niku and Tucker Poolman, I don't see Seattle taking either in expansion if left unprotected. The Jets might need to look into trading someone after these playoffs, even a fan favorite to keep us competitive for the future whether filling a roster need or getting additional picks and then tapping the free agent market to fill the gap. |

Jets need to make a bold move this summer. The management group has shown that they are capable of drafting wingers, which in my opinion is the easiest position to develop.
They need to do something like the following:
To BUF: Patrick Laine, Adam Lowry, Sami Niku, 2020 protected first round pick, 2021 first round pick, 2021 third round draft pick
to WPG: Jack Eichel, Kyle Okposo
If the Jets do not get first overall, the pick is no longer protected.
This will solve our Center problem for the next 5 years for sure! |

I think that's a heavy overpayment for Jack Eichel and not doable with a flat cap and already bad contracts on the books next season with Perrault and Little. Remember, Kyle Okposo is 6 million for another 3 seasons. It would take Patrick Laine with something extra for Jack Eichel. I wouldn't throw in all the extra draft picks when giving up Lowry and Niku. |

Without question, as we have said all year, the Jets lack the #2C and the big, tough d-man. Wonder how things, in hind-sight would look, had we drafted Tkachuk instead of Laine? Much more competitive and brave!
Want to get that #2C? How about Laine to the Kings for the #2 overall pick, in a block-buster for C Stutzle and whoever? Stutzle is said to be a dynamic player and we would be set for years at that position. Yes it might take a year or two.
But the main core is relatively young, Scheifele will not be old in two years, and we should be set for a run. Maybe I'm an optimist? But if were GM, that's ,the way O would attempt to go. Would LA do the 2nd overall ++ for Laine? I would!
Give us lots of cap room, as well, for that special d-man!
We also,as most know, need the biggest, toughest, talented player out there (probably a d-man), to take care of players like Tkachuk. |

Jets aren’t the only team that regrets notdrafting Tkachuk. Thanks Columbus, Edmonton, Vancouver! |

So, a future 50 goal man, a solid 3C, a guy who should be a top 6 dman for us, and a bunch of high picks
FOR
A slightly better Scheifele (sensible) and... a 4th line salary cap anchor? That’s it? |

Watching Andrew Copp put on an absolute clinic with top line and PP duties like people have been saying he would given the chance while you guys sit here and discuss radical trades for players on his level making more money is hilarious |

Also, hey, look at Hayes in Philly. That’s neat. Glad we used him as a 4C |

If and when the Jets get put out of their misery, what is the odds at #1 pick? |

Wasn't Evander Kane a future 50 goal man at one time too? |

You guys are overreacting to this series! Losing 55 and 29 is huuuge.
I don't love the centre depth but you guys are one 2C away from having a solid and young top-6. That can change with one trade.
I think the main concern should be defence if anything but that's easy to shore up with FA.
Part of me wishes the Flames will lose the play-in for that Laffy... I will be cheering for whoever loses this series to win it because if the oil do I quite honestly might not watch hockey next year. |

Copp is absolutely continuing to improve and impress. It’s sad that if he was a former first round pick everyone would be way more on board with pencilling him in as our number two Center. |

Wheeler as 1C tonight, Copp back on the wing with Lowry.
Maurice is a lost, desperate fool of a coach |

When did he score 44 at 19? Or put up 70 points? |
