Hardcore and vocal trump guy. Was suspended in junior for calling his own teammate a racial slur and has bounced around a lot for a young guy with hints that he's a real jerk following him around.

The Rangers can assess the business risk of his social media activity to determine if he's worth the marketing risk. As for his play, that was his first taste of post-season(ish) action. Many players who have had an otherwise good NHL career have had tough debuts in the post-season but they learn from the experience and get better. The kid produced in the regular season and is obviously very talented. I don't see why the Rangers would move him.

It was revealed that he had a hamstring injury during the Carolina series. I think the Rangers will sign him to a one or two year bridge deal. He is arbitration eligible, so he will get a better contract offer than last season when he had no leverage. He claims to love playing for NY, so I think this will eventually get done.

Not gonna get much of an offer considering his soul got ripped right out of his body.

Hints from whiny liberals who hate the guy cause he voted for Trump, he's been aces as a Ranger, that poop is in his past, honestly it's ridiculous the poop this guy gets, hope we sign him long term

Cap space. Already have Trouba and Fox at RHD. DeAngelo's value is high. Need a 2C. Trade from strength to address weakness.

the pro trump stuff wasn't known when Tampa dumped him for a 2nd round pick.
Twice suspended for violating the OHL's harassment, abuse and diversity policy.
Suspended at the NHL level for abuse of officials.
That latest one was 3.5 years ago, but in the meantime he's developed a reputation as a bit of an antagonizer off the ice as well, sparring with the public online.

Good idea to just single out DeAngelo, who can never be mentioned without referencing his political views.
Let's ignore Panarin who Ek was worshipping a few weeks ago. In three games he had zero points at even strength, was minus 3, with only 10 shots. Pretty disappointing for him. The Rangers needed secondary scoring from guys like Buchnevich, Kakko, Chytil, Howden...they all delivered zeros. Might also be worth mentioning that Mrazek and Reimer combined for a .955 SV% in 3 games.
But again, let's start questioning DeAngelo as an easy target.
DeAngelo is a stud offensively, very average in his own end, seems to be a bit of a jerk as far as personality goes. Here is what I think will play out. If a bridge deal cannot be worked out I see him being traded for a top six forward, preferably a center. Then I see Adam Fox taking over on the #1 pp unit and Trouba on unit #2. DeAngelo is still a bit of a risk because he seems like a disrespectful sort and whether he grows up or not is still a good question. Hockeywise he has star potential big time.
Great move by Aho but from watching that I am one hundred percent certain DeAngelo is playing hurt. He played that like he still has a hamstring injury for sure. I will not degrade him for a play like that and he probably deserves kudos for even playing.

If he was that hurt that he played LIKE THAT he probably shouldn't have been on the ice at all because he was a detriment to his team nearly every time he stepped on the ice.

Arrogant (frank) who’s entitled and has been suspended/fined for abusing officials several times, including for using homophobic and racist slurs(although apparently those were more in junior). He’s a far-right Trump supporter, people in NYC hate Trump so he catches poop for it. To say his views are uncommon in hockey would be a lie, but most guys arent as vocal.

Bottom line is, he cant defend against top lines. Stick to deploying him offensively and he will productive.
