Jeff Paul: Game Wrap: VAN 5, VGK 2: Lay Off Lehner Robin Lehner is under attack for a bad team game played by the Vegas Golden Knights. They dropped Game Two of the Semifinal to the Vancouver Canucks by a score of 5-2.

Fair analysis. I make similar arguments for Andersen in Toronto. Goalies do make mistakes sometimes, but more often then not, it's a breakdown, or a sweet offensive play. Media does not want to hear this. Fleury's agent stirred the pot, Vegas had a bad game, and Lehner is a bum makes for a better narrative.

American politics works the same way...

Vegas was still the better team by far. Markstrom stole one...I wouldn't change much

Can't blame the goaler for everything. Canucks were left alone 2-0 against the goaler. Where were the D then?

Marky was huge, but they also did a good job limiting the center of the ice.

Lehner didn't play bad, he just didn't play great. Canucks made their chances count.

Inexplicably, a referee provided enough of a pick to slow Theodore, giving Pettersson even more separation.

Still looking for that excuse of a pick.. you mean when Theodore stumbled when he turned, as Petey was between him and the ref at that point? Blame the ref for that, gloss over the botched delay of game call and dives by Marchessault.

Maybe if they laid off the roids their heads wouldn't be exploding right now?

While i agree that he wasn't the reason they lost at all.

Overall though during the course of these playoffs I think he's been mostly avg. If MAF puts another solid start again in one of these back to back games i don't see why he shouldn't see more games. Part of that to me is because Lehner hasn't really been that impressive.

I like Fleury but Lehner has outplayed him so play him. This is about who gives you the best chance to win a cup. Fleury had one great playoff but overall he is a choke artist. The knocks on Lehner just wont quit but he has been solid and hope he stays on top.

I'd really like to see Vegas win the West again.

Ok? That comment was before game 3 which I will say was the best he’s played all playoffs. His first period play was the key to the game. Shutting the door down, after that he didn’t really have much to do in the 2nd and 3rd because VGK dominated the Nucks much like they did in game 1.

I hope he helps us win the cup and subsequently gtfo of town. Last thing we need is for this team to overpay him. Let the Oilers/Flames or whatever other team give him some ridiculous contract.

MAF is overpaid...to the point they would have to retain salary to move him. What is the long term plan in goal?

He is, but between having him for a couple more years or being stuck with a terrible contract given to Lehner I’d rather they keep Flower.

I’m not McPhee or McCrimmon, but I hope it’s not to give Lehner a long term contract. Look at how well that worked out for the Panthers and Bovbrosky.
