Most of the Analysts for regional broadcasts are drunk homers, yes men, and they usually don't have any actual insight to offer. Eddie's better than most, but I really don't think he's the guy you want running an NHL team. Don't forget that sports teams are businesses and I really don't think he gives two poops about marketing campaigns and food vendors, etc... he'd rather be at the track, or spending time with his family, because he knows better than I do that cancer can strike anyone at any time. |

No Eddie O. I love him as a colorist both in hockey and horse racing. He sucked as a coach and has no experience as a GM. No Mellanby, no Weeks. The problem I have is the guys making the decision. We need a bill Torey type president of hockey operations going forward. Of the 4 guys mentioned only 1 has experience and success as a GM.
Brady Kemper should no way be on this team. If so we failed again. |

why not a guy like tom fitzgerald? |

it takes a lot of courage for a team to hire a GM with no experience. I for one think Eddie O can be a very good GM as long as he's the one who runs hockey operations and doesn't have a committer making decisions for him |

Matt, I think you answered your own question why Eddie hasn't been "scooped up" despite wanting a GM job for years. Those that matter know between a true hockey mind and a guy who can break down a replay.
Eddie is a nice guy, solid color guy in a booth when Foley isn't in it but would be woefully outclassed as a GM. ............ At least these are my thoughts following the Hawks for 50 yrs. |

Eddie O and Q Chicago connection. Eddie O, Q, and Viola all love the ponies.
Strategy meetings to take place weekly at Gulfstream Park between races three and four. Announcement to be made after Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. |

Former Canucks GM Gillis is reportedly also in the mix of candidates.

Oh yea, Mr. Ricochet. It’s a tough sell to get a GM position with no prior experience, that’s why I was saying maybe you do Mellanby (who is ready for the logical next step) and then have a like Eddie slot in somewhere in that front office in some capacity - he’s been trying forever to get in somewhere.
I don’t know, I just think the Cats probably need some more hockey people in the office.
Was kind of curious what Pronger would have done if he stuck around (and was interested in this type of role), but he’s pursuing his own business now. |

It was early in process. They actually made a good decision here. |
