Forget the picks. Trade bailey only if Lou can bundle him with JB or Ladd. Baily is one of the better contracts the Islanders have. Would rather bundle Leddy. Either way, Lou better re-sign our 3 FA's and leave room for next years FA's. |

Thanks for reading!
Packaging either Bailey or Leddy with Boychuk/Ladd would mean an $11M addition for somebody, so I think that's pretty unlikely. Could acquire assets in the trade and either hang onto them or use them to flip another contract, IMO. |

Entering the new arena they will field a veteran winning team to establish the home advantage and peak the fan interest. Doubt they will trade any vets unless it is a draft deal for talent. |

Yep. Unloading JB and Ladd contracts is nearly impossible, even if they find a team that has the cap space. Lou may have to throw in a nice yacht or a 2 year supply of covid masks for the entire team that takes them. |

Arizona might be back to being a cap dump team very soon. So long as Lou can get them on the island, I think there's hope

I thought their ownership was wanting to save coin? Hence all the OEL trade chatter. |

Agree Ben.
Don’t see Bailey getting moved. His contract vs production is a bargain.
Also the Bailey, Nelson, Beau line was the best line by far in the PO’s.
If your trying to add to your top 6 scoring you don’t trade away points you add to what you have.
One step forward 2 steps back was the Garth Snow approach of building and We all know how successful that was.
As far as the Cap Lou and Pellegrini have worked well together dumping cap. I wouldn’t doubt if Ladd is on LTIR next year. I also can see Leo being bought out which saves 1 million of the cap.
Just my opinion of course. |

They have always been the dump destination recently to get to the cap floor.
I don’t know their situation this year but if they need 5 million to reach the cap floor, we have a power forward for them |

If Bailey is moved how do you replace his points? I was a huge Bailey basher for a long time. He still drives me crazy sometimes, but he's producing now. You can't just ship him out without hurting the offense. |

Every team has a bad contract or 2 on their roster. Every team... so let's list our bad contracts vs. out good ones.
Bad:
Ladd- horrible $5.5 for 4 more years
Boychuk Bad $6 mill for 2 more years (would be fine at what # 3 ish?)
Hickey - waste of $2.5 mill a year for 2 more years. Dead $$
Clutterbuck - $3.5 too much.. 2 mill would be closer to right but this line was great in playoffs.
Casey - hurt too much and 3.3 is too much? more like $2.5 ish.
Leo- He played well in playoffs but 3 mill too much. probably 2 mill is the right number.
OK numbers
Bailey, Lee, Brock, Leddy, Johnston, Varly, and JG are all right in line or cheaper then they would get on open market IMO.
Great Contracts.
Mayfield - 1.5 for 3 more years. Insanely low.
Pelech $1.6 for another year.. insanely low.
Beau- $2.1 for another year. pretty low.
net net- yes the $8 mill burried in Ladd and Hickey are tough to swallow and getting rid of one of those would be fantastic, but most of these other "bad" contracts are moveable if we chose to eat some of the salary. We also have some incredibly low contracts that off-set some of the bad ones. Bottom line if there is anyone that Trotz and Lou want to move; this late run into the playoffs certainly would have inflated their value. When you are bored go to Cap Friendly and click on any other team and look at some of their nightmare contracts.
I don't see them moving Bailey after this run. I could see them moving Leddy if they sign a big name and need the cap room, or if someone offer sheets Barzal. If not I would expect bridge deals on RFA's until we lose all that $$ |

I’ve heard that Lou already booked Ladd into Robidas Island for vulva reconstitution. |

You can’t. Unless one (or both) of Bellows/Wahlstrom are ready. |

100% see that coming. Ladd gets paid and doesn’t have to ride the bus in the AHL. We get cap relief. It’s a win win. |

I don't see Lou or Trotz sending either of them straight to the second line. I don't think Bailey is going anywhere. |

First, I am of a big fan of Bailey. Never really have been. Second, his value as play has never been higher than it is now. Third, keep in mind however that you cannot buy chemistry.
This second line is coming into its own. If you do not see him as part of the solution for the next 5 years. You move him for the best possible offer to help this team.
Otherwise you look at other areas. |

Ladd only has 3 years left on his contract. Please don't make it any worse than it already is. I know, because I am counting the days.
