Based on this selection I think the naiveté is infectious and rapidly spreading among the Leaf fans base.

I've seen some compelling numbers that would support a bit of a reach on O'Rourke, but none of those arguments were laid out. I'd go Guhle.

This was kind of remarkable in a sense. A crazy combination of what he wants Dubas to do (draft a D) + what he expects him to do (draft from the Soo) and none of what would likely happen in the theoretical universe where he has to make the pick at 15. Taking one of the higher rated D left at that point? Sure. Take a good forward still there? I could see it. Reach into the second round to draft a D at 15 just because of Soo connections? Yeah, probably not.

On the positive side this pick should only slightly throw off the guys who would have made their mock selections at the very end of the first round.

He mentioned in the blog that the selection was based on Dubas moving down coupled with his knowledge and relationship with the Greyhounds. If they don't move down, someone other than O’Rourke would be the pick.

Schneider is a better defensemen already, is a right shot D and plays a very solid two way game with emphasis on defense.....
Why are the Leafs taking Orourke at 15 when they could use their 2nd round pick to get him?

Horrible draft selection at this stage.
Pass on Zary and Schneider? Yikes.
