I wouldn't mind at all if Holloway dropped to 22 and if the Rangers stay at that spot, they take him |

I don't love the last 3 picks, think there were much better choices remaining |

debateable that there are better forwards left available, but there are definitely a few d-men I would have taken WAY before O'Rourke (Guhle, Schneider, Barron, etc) |

Reading the scouting report on Holloway, I am reminded of former Ranger Brandon Dubinsky. I think this is a solid pick... |

I think I speak for everyone in saying I'd love to have a young Dubinsky in the middle 6 right now. I wouldn't call Zib soft, but we could use the combination of snarl and skill he he had for us for a center, it's something we really don't have at the moment that we were hoping Lias could have provided. Also a good face off guy you could rely on in the defensive zone. Would be an excellent pick if we got him

And Zary waits...
Holloway seems like the classic "good at everything/great at nothing" prospect at this point. |

you know who is an underrated prospect, again, probably because of size? Sean Farrell
Harvard commit, if the Rangers could nab him in 3rd round it would be fantastic, but he probably wont last |

Personally, he reminds me of Jost a little too much. |

Leafs 100% will not pick O’Rourke at 15. If they want him, they will be trading down collecting more assets. |

Takes two to tango. You don't always get to trade down. |

i'm sure lots of teams would be willing to trade for the 15th pick.........I know if Askarov was still on the table, i'd be more than happy to trade 28 and 32 (and O'Rourke would almost sure still be on the board at that point) for 15....although i'm sure if Askarov was still available, leafs would just pick him anyways. |

I am sure the Rangers would love to go from 22 to 15 if they could |

While I may be reading a little too much into it, Holloway is 8 days short of being in last years draft class. So to compare him to the top players from last year that just finished their first year NCAA (turcotte, Caufield, zegras, to a lesser extent boldy) Holloway’s year would be considered disappointing. I’m not saying Holloway should be grouped among these guys, but with this year being touted as good as it is and you’re a team drafting in the top 20 do you shy away from a player that wouldn’t even be able to crack the top 10 from last year?
I will note that zary is only 2 days younger so this hypothesis doesn’t matter when deciding between the two (I would actually almost call it a coin flip given the NCAA being a stronger league with less opportunity for younger players vs the older players in the CHL being men amongst boys, offsetting Holloway’s somewhat underwhelming year and Zary’s successful one.
Point I’m getting at is more so if you’re selecting in a draft that by all reports is super talented, is it better to play it safe or pick a high risk high reward player hoping to hit a home run and get a franchise altering player |
