I think this team may be better than the one that played the Habs.

Third pair has to be a lot better than JJ-Schultz. Kapanen for Sheary is also a nice upgrade.

DeSmith for Murray not really. Hornqvist, Marleau, Simon and Bjugstad out for Jankowski and Sceviour is certainly a downgrade, mostly due to Hornqvist.

Wildcard is do they get anything from prospects? And they can still add a player good or bad.

I'm shocked there was no mention of JJ signing with the Rangers.

This reminds me of the season we started with Sheehan and McKegg.

At least RW got his female dog release for the day and could possibly found his new dead horse to beat!!! All is right in the world.

Didn't they not get Sheehan until a couple of weeks into the season too? That opening night lineup was rough...and I still think not finding a 3c that offseason has haunted them to this day.

RW is about to start writing a Rangers blog just so he can whine about JJ.

Jankowski is pretty much useless on a 4th line. He's gonna be very useful if he finds his game again and is thus able to center the 3rd line though. Excellent PK guy as well.

I‘m with you on the need to get something from the prospects, especially Poulin. Hopefully he shows well in camp and they give him a look on the third line. That might give them some much needed scoring.

RW can piss and moan all he wants but we still have ALL our capspace

These guys can be sent down easily, and "poof" cap hit gone

GMJR can sign 100 of these maybe maybe not players for all I care

He clearly has his eye on some 5 Millionish player, who will have to settle for 1 year 3 Million when the market dries up

I wonder if Hoffman is a guy for a deal like that?

I mostly agree. Marleau was warmed over garbage for the Pens. Bjugs had a nice stretch a few weeks after being traded for that only lasted about 3 or 4 weeks...other then that he was injured or crap if he played.

I see some young guys on one year contracts that are going to be really hungry. The two (NHL) signings today have good characteristics, they're not just void of anything to offer.

I think one more middle 6 winger who can score and I really like the fowards. It's just too bad about Sceviour being there haha.

You’d hope, but some guys on here have said that JR went on the record saying these moves have improved the third line and that he’s probably done with forwards. You’d hope that’s smoke and mirrors.

Once known as a straight shooter, he's said a lot of things the past year or so that hasn't held true, so here's to hoping haha

Jankowski Will get his share of time on the 3rd line I guess. I’m not against it if this is where his game will supposedly have a chance to thrive. Underwhelming signing for what everyone was expecting here? Sure.

Wennberg would’ve been excellent but let’s move on.

Ps. Brandon Tanev and Jankowski played together in Providence. The coaches really love college guys.

I still find weird we couldn’t keep Simon. He’s better than at least 3-4 forwards from our roster.

The moves are pretty good. Jankowski seems like a low risk high reward type deal same with E-Rod. I think McCann Jankowski- ERod will be a good line. They are all pretty quick. Jankowski brings some size and strength to the line. They can all play a defensive role and also can score. Jankowski has 7 SHG in 2 years. He seems like he had a bad year, but it also seemed like Calgary as a whole did as well. Pretty happy by the moves. I had hope that we would have signed some other players, but overall happy with what who we have acquired this offseason. I will take a younger Matheson over a Schultz deal any day. He seemed to regress the past few years after his first injury

I dont think it's THAT bad. But not saying it's good either. To me we have half the bottom 6 that would play in the playoffs. McCann, Blue, Tanev. Well I guess you can count ZAR so 4 out of 6. They are really leaving Poulin a spot to grab.

I like your optimism. I would rather have signed Simon instead of Rodrigues though. Not even close.

If he wanted 3 mil like some rumors said.... that would have been near all of our cap space before these signings.

Could we still land Tyler Johnson?
- Barnaby36

Sure, if we ship out Matheson... or Letang... or something to get 4mil+ cap space.
