Leo Komarov and Andrew Ladd. You get an entire line and a third round pick. |

2 second rounders when every other team knows we are in cap trouble is not a bag of pucks Denis. |

Toews was a fair return given the marketplace, but it was not a great return. I am still fine with the trade b/c of the Expansion draft next year, but I would love to still have him on my team. |

The new York Islanders have never been close to the cap ceiling in my lifetime...ever.. I say that every year and I still say it... never close. We are always in the bottom half of the list with Cap room ...every ... single... year. When that is different I will start to worry about the cap.
EVERY team has to worry about the cap. If you thing Toews was a Cap only move you are wrong. if there was no expansion draft next year they would not have moved Toews. They would have signed him and figured it out.. (move Ladd to LTIR before season.. ) they looked and decided that the mkt to move a guy like Leddy is not what it should be and having 4 young D-men who would need to be protected is not ideal. Having only 3 and then being able to keep 6 (or is it 7?) forwards is a much better scenario. Especially with Dobson, Wilde and Aho in the mix.
you guys can keep losing your mind about the cap... I will never worry about it. It's a GM's job. All of them have to figure it out.. especially this year. Every team has some salaries that they don't love. Look at each team and then ask yourself how bad the Isles situation is compared to most.
There is 7 teams right now who are over the cap. A lot of them have guys to sign still too.... https://www.capfriendly.com/ |

I get that , all of it. Hopefully Lou will figure it all out. That’s his job. The point is , the team has to bring back all the guys they want to and try to improve the roster. In the end they might. But they do have cap issues , you can say they don’t but if they didn’t they would be all done with the roster already. When all is said and done if they end up less than a million under the cap , what will you call that? I’m just wondering. |

The Rangers are going to offer sheet Barzal, so we have nothing to worry about.

This is the thing. Isles may be able to sign Barzal and Pulock but do they have enough Cap to add to this team to put themselves over the top? If may be real tough to go on a similar playoff run without adding to the team. |

Lou's cap gambles just aren't working out. He should have signed Barzal long ago and then concentrated on clearing cap for Pulock. Perhaps he'll do that now. |

If we had the cap space Toews would’ve been signed. We did not so we traded him. |

sure would be nice to have a little extra cap space right now....about $5 mil should do the trick. Too bad we spent on a center for Komarov and Brassard.
Come to think of it, a first and second round pick would be enough to move Boychuck...oh wait....
