Florida should move to Quebeck. Then put Tampa in the metro and move Columbus to the Atlantic

If a team is moving to Quebec City, I would think it would be another Eastern team moving. One the of the Florida teams, not the one who just won the cup could be a candidate.

Arizona...its a problem geographically for division alignment.....but if they are unable to move to Phoenix combined with the possibility that they will be horrible....they should remain a top candidate.

It makes perfect sense too. If 2-3 teams are in trouble and need to relocate, they would definitely be selling well below full value. I can see Quebecor coming in and poaching a team at a discount. They wouldn't even ask for public funds either (it would be a dumb thing to do with the economy the way it is due to covid) Not to mention they have an sparkling brand spanking new arena ready to go.

Seems unlikely unless Terry is more broke than we even know.

Honestly I'd suspect the Hurricanes might bein danger of moving to Houston, but Dundon just signed a 7 year lease extension with a guarantee of exploring building a new arena in downtown Raleigh.

QC population: 550k + surrounding area

Houston population: 2.3 million + surrounding areas

Which do we choose for a team first? Oh yea, the city the league already left.

Jersey is going nowhere. Very Sound Financially. Harris/Blitzer have deep pockets and they will not give up the future revenue that The Rock ( Prudential Center ) gives them. It is one of the biggest money making Arena's in the Country. With past owners yes, this group - No Way Jose

Personally I could see Columbus being that first team. Maybe they move to Toronto area after Florida relocates to Quebec.

I could see Florida moving to Quebec (outside shot at Ottawa)
I could see Arizona moving to Houston
Calgary to KC ? I'd hope not but the've had issues with new arena...
Carolina has had difficulty, but heard they were looking at new arena in Raleigh? If that doesnt happen they are surely on this list as well.

Quebec really deserves a team.
Whatever team they end up with will be hot garbage, though, so I'd start looking at whoever sucks and has the worst fair-weather fan-base/worst attendance record.

that's fair. I don't know a lot about the new ownership group in Jersey.

TBH, it's been a crime that Quebec City has been out of the NHL for this long... I'd feel bad for any city that lost a team, but would openly and gladly welcome QC back in the fold, hopefully with its name, logo, traditions, fans, etc. returning with it.

Florida could play half their games in Quebec and the remainder in Florida (January -February) to start. Similar idea to what people are saying about the Marlins and Montreal.

I would like to see a team in Portland.
Coyotes are the obvious choice for relocation, then Panthers.
Although Quebec has already had a team, so too had Colorado,Winnipeg, Atlanta etc.

Unless the entire team is made up of young guys without wives/kids, I don't see the NHLPA going for this one.

Harris and Blitzer are private equity bros that for some unknown reason got into sports as a portfolio diversification. They treat their franchises like hedge funds and are incredibly savvy at upping the value of franchises they take over, but all of their decisions are purely profit driven and they meddle with the decision making process of their FOs to that end using the "expertise" of their sports guy Scott O'Neil. Great for business, awful for on ice/on court product type of owners.
