This actually is kinda a win for JHS. He was really upset last year when he got sent down b/c his minors salary was only $70k ish... That is a HUGE difference from the $800k he would have made in NHL if he stayed up on the big club. This contract will at least give him $225k if he is in the AHL all year. Not a terrible amount of money to play hockey for a living.
I still have hope for this kid... I was listening to the NHL network last night on XM. They were talking about a Showcase tournament a while ago for 15 year olds in Canada. Had tons of talent in the tourney.. the 3 Stars of the tournament though was Conor McDavid, Matthew Barzal, and ..... Josh Ho Sang.
This kid has serious skills.. I am not giving up on him. |

just looked... so last year his AHL salary was $70k. This year it's $210k. If he is going to spend the year in B-port like most assume.. .he just got a 300% raise.

Every single GM in the league had the opportunity to have him for free and they passed on him. That should tell you pretty much all you need to know. He's Rob Schremp 2.0 |

Somewhat. I think Schremp had a better shot, while Ho Sang is a better skater. |

Really just a comparison of two players that had/have a tremendous amount of skill but don't seem to give a flying (frank) about the other aspects of being a professional hockey player |

Gotcha. Although arguably with different personalities. Schremp might be ok in today's NHL, but was kind of passive for the NHL of a decade ago. Ho Sang is just waiting for his spaceship to land. |

Plus, Schremp gets the nod because, as meaningless as his time as an Islander was, he did this and Ho-Sang hasn't done anything nearly as cool.

Tampa could have used his skills last night against the Dodgers. |

I remember that goal by JHS. A little unusual, because he didn't shoot often and that shot was from a ridiculous angle.
I wish I could be more optimistic about his future with the Isles. The guy does have some skills. |

Damn, looked like an Islanders home game when he scored. Alot of transplanted NY'ers in the desert. |

I'm going to assume that Barry sees something in him, otherwise, why have him around your other kids who are learning the system ( in AHL ). He will be given every possible opportunity to make the Isles out of training camp. Just my opinion of course. I just don't see why Lou would sign him if Barry didn't want to try and mold him 🤷🏻♂️ |

Because Lou can be a mean old bastard when he wants to be. Which I’m totally fine with. |

When are Barzal and Pulock’s arb cases? I thought they were late October, but maybe I to early November I guess. |

Barzal is not eligible for arbitration. Too young. Pulock's is Nov. 6th.
